Films and TV app won't play my videos!

I can't use the Windows Films and TV app to open videos stored on my PC, the option to use as a default app is gone.
I've re-installed the app but this hasn't fixed it.

Not sure how long it's been like this as I don't play videos very often.

Isn't that app designed to allow you to rent or buy movies from MS?

I'd recommend VLC Media Player for "other" videos you may have.

I think so but it's always been an option to use as a default video player, unless something has changed in a recent Windows update.
I've got VLC now. For some reason PowerDVD 21 no longer loads either, very strange (PowerDVD 22 does work so must be a compatibility issue)

I'm not really up on many A/V apps. I've been using VLC forever. :-)

Looking at some of the reviews of the MS app, it appears that local file playback has been removed 🤔
I'll use VLC now or the new Media Player app. If Cyberlink do a good deal for Black Friday I might get PDVD22 if it's cheap enough
