I'm looking for an easy way to force the taskbar widget to open in my browser of choice instead of the edge stable browser like it normally does. I've already tried this piece of software: GitHub - rcmaehl/MSEdgeRedirect: A Tool to Redirect News, Search, Widgets, Weather and More to Your Default Browser but it didn't seem to do anything, I feel sure there must be some way to make the desired action happen. Thanks in advance for your suggestions & help with this matter.
Widgets are an integral part of the OS & MS Edge itself.
At this time, I am not aware that Widgets, MSedgeWebView2 in particular, can run independently.
URLs redirects can be opened by another browser if selected in default apps.

Hi,
First of all thanks so much for your timely response, at least for me that's one of the 'negative' aspects concerning the ms windows operating system. Of course different operating systems can be even more restrictive in some ways that ms windows.

MS says "You wanna use our products and services, it ain't gonna open in the competitors browser"

That'd be like going to the Chevy dealership and saying "I wanna buy a brand new Ford!"

Edwin,
Of course I see your point, I guess at least for now I'll just disable the taskbar widget, that way I won't have to be concerned about where it opens.

I contacted the developer of the MSEdgeRedirect application on his discord server, he was kind enough to respond back to me concerning my inquiry about the application not functioning properly while using windows 11. He acknowledged that other users have also experienced issues with it, he assured me he's looking into the issue.
