I've noticed on my computers that I have a bunch of mostly empty folders.
They are Gadgets, Shared Gadgets & Windows Sidebar folders.

I used to like Gadgets, but haven't used them in a very long time, and have never used them on this computer that I'm posting this on.
I've never even used third party installations of Gadgets such as 8GadgetPack.

Does everyone still have all these folders? Maybe a clean installation of Windows 11 doesn't have them.

clean installations of Windows 11 typically do not include these folders, because:

  • Gadgets are officially removed and unsupported.
  • The Windows Sidebar service is long gone.
  • Microsoft has replaced Gadgets with Widgets in Windows 11.
If you’re seeing these folders on your system, it’s likely because:

  • Your system was upgraded from an earlier version of Windows.
  • The OEM or recovery image includes them for legacy reasons.
  • A tool like 8GadgetPack was installed at some point (you mentioned this is not the case, though).

I don't have any of those folders. My Windows 11 OS is an upgrade from Windows 10 and has been running this way for over 12 months.

I have all these folders because I installed 8GadgetPack on all my computers. I checked a couple Windows 11 VMs. I don't see these folders on either of them.

I’d be surprised if there would be any adverse affects, considering Microclopt banished them.
