win10 64 bit 20h2 ver. now it is 22h2
all of a sudden the last few day when i try to go to a website i have used for years i'm no wetting a first page message that i'm blocked? i have win11 24h2 build 26100.4349

i have ublock origin lite running you tube add guard click to remove element and hide that now running so i can keep items out of the way. ublock origin worked great until chrome took that away, maybe it was not being updated. anyway now i'm getting that blocked page popping up and even if i go to the site directly i get it.

is this now something in chrome win11 or maybe now one of those ad blockers messing things up. oh today i was getting mcafee warnings to turn that on. i did not see it as an app to remove. but after i did an update that seems to be gone for now anyway. and i wehn and turned off all the extensions i have every one and still i was blocked. one site was repair clinic.com

and i get the same page on a few other sites. so i'm wondering if i may have a virus? or maybe comcast is blocking my access to these sites? thanks.

    …still on a horse.
i do not this so. i typed in the site again and at first i got what your showing and then i got that page i posted again. so i used windows browser and it still di it so it does not like my ip address. i took the remove element out of the extensions and i still got this. i may log off chrome and try again and see. maybe chrome is sending something out and some of the websites are now blocking me. this just started like last week. at first i thought it was just one site but i'm getting more of them now. about 1/3 of my bookmarks are now doing this.

ok i just went to another pc and outside of having to change the password i was able to log onto that site. so i must have a virus going on this pc. but when i went into security and check win11 said all was goo. but i did have to turn on core isolation. and i see bitlocker is off but that is off on the other pc as well. so maybe i may try running malware removal tool and see if things improve.

so it seems ad block was the issue. that app with the shield, i noticed it was popped up in the lower right corner and it is not running on the other pc so i uninstalled it and i was able to get back on the repairclinic. so now to see if i can get back on the other sites.

i like the ublock to remove some junk in my emails so i get a larger page. on the other pc i do not run the 24" monitor and the email section si like 2" on the bottom. the top 1/3 is mostly junk but sometimes needed. the click to remove element i may put back as ublock origin lite seems to not be able to always keep them away. plus i like to hide all those popups when visiting site and the pop up some nonsense about buying something. if there is another app that will keep items off the pages let me know and i can try that. by the way defender was turned off for some reason i had to turn that back on and malwarebytes came back clean.

i will let you know if the issue returns thanks.

The screenshot is a block page from CloudFlare, it can trigger from abnormal traffic or potentially a lack of traffic it expects for normal site use. Ublock was likely blocking something it expected to see so you got blocked.

thanks. since it removed that adblock app from chrome and windows i can get on most of them now. go figure. but i can't run ublock origin in chrome now. when i tried to get it all that chrome allowed was ublock origin lite version. i did like the ublock origin it worked real well. now i have to run the lite app and the remove element app to get the same results. thanks.

1) you can still run it even though manifest 2 is outdated. google does that so it can force ads on their stuff - ie youtube.

2) this thread will prob get locked as its talking about ad blockers... just so you know for future

You must presumably be "Species Grilloid" rather than Human as ist logon to site as the site asks for check box for confirmation that you are human (cloudflare) and then proceeds to the site -- I HATE chrome - so why don't you try another browser --firefox works fine and probably so does edge.

that kind of sucks. so it looks like the change i made will go away at the next chrome update. tell me if anyone can is fire fox a good browser? i used to to use that browser and then some win10 guys started talk of that browser going south for security so i went back to chrome. back then now seemed to like windows browsers and i think they complained about security on that one also.

i'm starting to not care for chrome much anymore but i have got use to windows operations and the security it seems they have installed in there system now so that i do not need outside virus programs. or at least that is what win10 guys said back before win11 came out.

i do not like in yahoo email that it is full of top of the page adds and hacker bars so i was using ublock origin to remove them or at least hide them so i could see more of the email page.

now on chrome it seems i need to use 2 more blockers and most likely those don't really hide anything as i get hundreds of spam emails everyday, and have to mark them as spam. they just never give up. i tried the chrome vpn but that seems to slow the pc down so bad that i stopped using that now. these extensions seem to slow it a bit as well but if i want more email page i have to swap out something. on this pc i'm using now i have a 24" monitor on a laptop. but at night as i watch some old tv shows and cruise some webs or check emails on that laptop i get about 2" of email screen and junk along the top that i just can't make smaller. i had most of that thinned down but when i lost my other pcs to a house fire they all went with those pcs. those changes must have been internal most likely in the registry.

anyway it looks like ublock origin will finally go away and be replaced with the lite version i was using. and that does not keep what i remove gone some of it returns and i spend time clicking it away every day.

that might be it. i just asked if firefox was back to being a good browser? i used it years ago but the win10 guys said to drop it because it was getting full of hackers so i went to chrome.

Firefox is fine -- but if you are really worried just use edge -- I used not to like it but its perfectly OK now (other than a little bit bonkers way of showing favourites -- and I DO like menus - but that's a personal choice). Ms isn't going away any time soon --and I think a lot of the rumours over firefox are just unfounded.

i will stay with chrome for the time being. i opened edge and half my bookmarks are gone or moved around. firefox may do that also. and spell check is gone and grammerly wants to take over or it wants me to use chrome. so what is the point of changing i guess. if chrome takes away ublock origin again and the lite version fails me then i will try firefox and see how it is again thanks
