Getting rid of Bing search engine in Edge

I checked again just now. When I change my default to any other search engine, I now have the option to delete Bing. I don't want to delete Bing, since it's my search engine of choice, so I don't actually click on Delete. Are you saying that you never even get the Delete option for Bing?

You read my mind, @Edwin. When @dbartenstein mentioned having to change settings, I thought, "of course"!

I do several clean installs every year. I did one of my clean installs last Saturday and, of course, that definitely gives me a clean Operating System and a clean Edge. So I'm using an absolutely clean system.

Yes, that's the case.... Gunna try the reset option mentioned

Not so.

I use Firefox which allows me to set things like I want them, although Microsoft somehow has made Bing the default! The first thing I do is replace Bing as the default with DuckDuckGo.

Then I delete all search engines except DuckDuckGo from the Search Box.

Forget about the new tab "+" symbol
open URL about:blank
create shortcut on favourites bar
right click on icon > rename > delete name (leave blank)
that just leaves a blank icon on the favourites bar
right-click icon for blank page > open in new tab or open in new window

Easy as.

BTW, works with any/every browser

Hum well I have installed Brave onto my main desktop but cannot get the frequently visited sites added to the new tab screen?? Anyone got any thoughts on this problem.
Ok I have found the solution a bit convoluted but hey isn't this what it is all about??

Someone has just suggested this extension, it is awesome.
It fixed the slow startup. You can add any search you want.

Thanks my friend but I have the setup as I want it now I am just sick of the never ending ways of shoving extra stuff down our throats when all most of us want is a steady and reliable browser

The only browser I have/use is Edge, and the only search engine I use is Google. I like Bing (I never use it), but Google is way better in my native language and region (Persian and Persia).

I have changed the SP (Start page) and SE (search engine) settings. I mention it here maybe it's helpful:
I have set a blank HTM file as my SP (fast opening the Edge):

I have set Google as the default SE, and by typing in the search box (middle of the page, not the address bar), it goes to the address bar automatically and opens the results in Google:

To search with Google: Open an NT (new tab) and type the words. Or, if I don't need the current page, I press "Alt+Home" and then type my words (or type in the address bar).

Edge suffers from the same handicap as IE, Outlook Express, Windows Mail, Windows Live Mail, Moviemaker, etc. It's a Micro$oft product and, like the others I mentioned, they will discontinue it just as soon as everybody gets comfortable using it and replace it with something much worse, or nothing at all.
