I started to receive this update on 3/15: "9PLJQ12FQ3CV-MicrosoftCorporationII.WinAppRuntime.Main.1.8"
Ever since 3/22 it has reinstalled every other day between 3/22 and 3/28. It does not show in Windows Updates but does show in Reliability Monitor. What is this thing?

I just checked Reliability Monitor on my PC and I see the same thing happening so it's not just you.

According to AI:

The 9pljq12fq3cv ID refers to the Microsoft.WindowsAppRuntime.1.8 package on winstall, which is a critical component of the Windows App SDK 1.8 (released 2025-2026). It acts as a bridge for Win32 apps to use modern Windows Runtime (WinRT) APIs. It is essential for modern Windows applications to run and usually updates automatically.

Key Details for Windows App Runtime 1.8 (9pljq12fq3cv):
  • Purpose: Enables modern WinRT API usage for desktop apps.
  • Component Type: Contains the main, singleton, and framework packages for Windows App SDK.
  • Installation/Management: Often installed via winget or as part of Windows updates.
    • Compatibility: Essential for WinUI 3 projects.
    • Removal: It is generally advised not to remove this component to avoid breaking modern Windows apps.
If you see this being installed, it is a routine update by Microsoft to maintain system application functionality.
