I've been using Firefox since day one, and Startpage almost as long.
It's safe and secure and they don't record and share your browsing choices, like Google does.

Capcha is not used by Firefox or Google, but by sites that you may be trying to log into. They just want to make sure you are actually a person with proper credentials to log in to that site, and not a Robot. Sure it's a PITA, but that's the world we live in today.
