Yes, don't have experience with WinRE. Does any WinPE work or does it have to be the actual WinRE? Also, when one uses the command prompt option to launch regedit, will it be the GUI or is it closer to how people import .reg files to the registry?

so WinRE is the blue interface that appears when holding shift key down while restarting the PC. i dont have any experience with WinPE, but i imagine it does the same thing. when you launch regedit at the cmd prompt it opens the registry edit program as normal.

when loading regedit through cmdprompt via WinRE, you have to specify drive C, since it mounts WinRE to drive X (C:\windows\system32\config\SYSTEM). its not too difficult. i did it repeatedly when tweaking and breaking my system with bad reg key edits.

Thanks, last time I had a BSOD from installing the new security files, WinRE did not work as the WinRE had to be atleast August 14, 2024 or later so my options were to boot with a USB Flash Drive which contain either WinPE or the ISO of Windows itself, the later needing to hit Shift+F10 at the prompt to mount the UEFI to delete a file that was added before the system would boot again, never gotten to try regedit. I guess it shouldn't be too hard other than spending time to actually note down what the original settings for each modded regkey is to use as reference for reversing the scripts if it caused problems. Yes, I think it helps to know where the Windows 11 registry files are located in order to load the hives to fix it. LOL.

WinRE can be many things, as you can recover your system in many ways. I fortunately was able to recover my system with WinRE without needing to resort to WinPE.

more than half of the reg keys used are not present by default, so i cant provide the default values, as ive gathered most of them from various sources noted in the batch script.

LOL, it's hard to provide default values since everyone's system is different as some may have some of the keys even if it wasn't default. I am just saying that for Guidance for blocking rollback of Virtualization-based Security (VBS) related security updates - Microsoft Support - it specifically says:
"Windows Recovery Environment. The Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) on the device must be updated with the latest Windows updates installed on the device before the SkuSipolicy.p7b is applied to the device. Omitting this step might prevent WinRE from running the Reset PC feature." which in this case meant August 13, 2024 or later.

to clarify, i meant that some of the reg keys present in the script are not in the registry at all, and must be manually added. and youre right, some other keys have no default and are variable depending on hardware. these keys in my scripts are noted and some have been updated to query hardware and dont need manually set thanks to the great people on this forum.

i always check for system updates daily, and also run canary insider builds, so i never had this issue. i always love staying up too date and bleeding edge, which is one of the reasons i use canary and consistently run windows update

for sure, i do have my setting values tuned for optimal performance, so if some keys on another users machine have differing values than whats in the script, the script knows best what it should be set to prioritizing performance

Which tweaks of NVGPUTweaks.bat interfere with DSC Digital Signal Compression monitors? Does hdmi 2.1 eliminate dsc? go around this at 1440p 240hz? Is the GPUTweaks.bat the new one?

Yeah looks like I'm stuck with a DSC DP1.4 monitor so I guess I need to be able to edit the script to use these.

Crap, I was just about to install it until I saw DSC feature not supported. The Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 G95SC has DSC enabled by default in game mode :(

Nope wasnt vrr already had those input, fell asleep edit time expired. Guess ill have to search all of these or something, Reinstalling 10 times doesnt sound like fun, I'm on a debloated os so restore is off the table not sure how reversible a black screen will be if at all.

my account has been suspended on GitHub. i didnt receive an email as to why im banned. ive moved the project to GitLab as a backup provider for the meantime until i figure out what i was banned for and address the issue. ive submitted a ticket to appeal the suspension on Oct 4th, 2025. it can unfortunately take months for a response from GitHub support

The performance is excellent in advanced.bat mode but theres very few games that it doesnt kill its dependencies, most anything with a server browser will not work including cs2 and pubg. Division 2 works and Ive been using it there its great on that game but I cant get anything else to run including the new Doom games. Seems like its a bit too aggressive and needs required dependencies taken into consideration. Yeah did you know where microsoft is based now I think ur theories about why you got suspended on github are correct. More than you realize. I would tell you more but I think I would just get banned here.

i play cs2 all the time, but not FACEIT client. i know the security tweaks script is not compatible with it and other anticheats. ive not run into any compatibility issues with any scripts, and ive tested id say 100 games. which scripts have you ran?
