Group Email Failures

I am running W11 and Thunderbird.

I often have to send out group emails to the club I run. My message goes out to everyone on the group list I created. Non are ever returned as failed delivery, but several people complain that they didn't get my email

There are 35 in the group, and normally 6 or 7 don't get it. They all say they have checked their junk boxes, so where do these emails go?

If I send them an individual email it always gets ther.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I use Thunderbird in a similar way. I use the "Mail Merge" add-on so that I can send individually addressed emails by using the info in a spreadsheet. The problem I have is that only 10 emails are sent at a time. I'm sure this is an issue with my isp stopping mass mailing rather than Thunderbird. Good luck solving your mystery.

I would suggest sending out a test run dividing the group in half.

If all recipients get the mail then you may be able to assume that your ISP has a limitation.

If this is the case then you could test run sending the 35 emails out using something like a free Gmail or Outlook account

There is also the option of using something like Mailchimp. (I’ve never used it, I really know nothing about it.)

Thank you for your reply. I will split them in half and give it a go.

I have my own email address, and pay to have it hosted, so it shouldn't have anything to do with my ISP (BT).

Some ISP’S have an email quota so as they can reduce spam. It isn’t unheard of for email services like Gmail or Outlook to have a larger quota.

BT is ISP, but not who I send emails through, that is Names Co.

So you host your own site with a private domain? Might have been worth mentioning.

Split the email list regardless. If you find it works then have a chat to the server support.

Also, is it always the same people who don’t get the email or is it random?

If it's a custom domain, check that you have your DMARC, SPF, and DKIM records set correctly. Getting bulk mail through can be an absolute nightmare these days.

Also, I don’t want to assume so I will ask, you have asked them to check their spam boxes?

Especially if it’s being sent to Gmail accounts, Gmail is the worst.

I was receiving failure to receive emails from them when the backend was trying send domain renewal notice's out to name owners with Gmail accounts. Eventually I just gave in and gave them my first born grandchild.

It wasn’t so much the process as it was the loop of pages their requirements kept sending me to.

“failed: host gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com Gmail requires all senders to authenticate with either SPF or DKIM. Authentication results: DKIM = did not pass SPF”

OK that’s not a problem, the problem was the rabbit hole it sent me down trying to find their requirements

I don't host my own site, I do not have one. I do pay for a personal email address that is hosted by Names Co.

As I said in the original post, I have asked them to check junk boxes.
