I’m reaching out for assistance with an issue I’ve been facing on my 6-years old ThinkStation P520. The system has been restarting randomly without displaying any BSOD errors. Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
RAM Replacement: Swapped my RAM with a module from another system, but the restarts persisted.
Motherboard Swap: Temporarily used a motherboard from a friend’s P520, but the restarts continued.
UEFI Settings: Left the system in the UEFI interface overnight—it restarted after ~25 minutes without any changes. The same occurred after reverting to my original motherboard.
At this point, I’m unsure what might be causing the problem. Any ideas what could be the issue here? (V2 logs here)
I sincerely hope this isn't an SMPS issue. I have no way of getting a replacement SMPS.
the in-built diagnostics of power, ram, storage were shown as passed. (Didn't run any advanced diagnostics)
Yeah.. the PSU is what my acquaintance refused to share with me. So I have no way to check that.
I didn't know how to test the PSU for voltage stability. However, when the computer would restart, I would notice that an orange LED would light up alongside the regular green LED. I am told that's an issue too.
Anyways. I gave up on that system... I have reverted to using an old HP Z240 for now.
