Summary: Generic Fail

Short Generic: Fail
Short DST: Pass
SMART: Pass
Fix all fast: Fail
Overwrite erase: Fail
Erase boot sectors: Fail

If the disk drive is under warranty > contact Sea Tools

“Fix All Fast” uses the drive's activity logs to identify suspicious sectors which may or may not be bad.
SeaTools goes to each one in the list and if it really is bad the program will try to reallocate that one sector.
If successful SeaTools moves on to the next if not successful then the test fails.
On average the time is less than 5 minutes.

Sea Tools has additional software: Sea Tools Bootable

This removes Windows during the testing.

Thanks all for your help, I contacted Seagate and it's still under warranty. No idea how long they will take to send a new one, hopefully not to long.

My Computer

That's great news.

Please run the commands and script in post #22.

These will be useful for:
a) scripts for evaluating failed drives
b) seeing the recorded events surrounding the power outage and the disk drive

Overnight please run Sea Tools for Windows long generic test on the Windows disk drive.
The other disk drives can be checked anytime.

Says zip file for the bat file is to large at 7mb. I'm going to disconnect it as I need to get it ready for mailing later today.

I don't think windows PC will be able to read the drive because it is in different format. The most important thing there is that it is being detected. I had the same problem before with my Qnap NAS and learned my lesson. The first thing you should try is doing is to perform data recovery. I've been using MiniTool Power Power Data Recovery software for years now and it is a life saver. It takes hours to perform but it is all worth it once you've recovered your data. Don't attempt to fix drive errors right away. It will compromise your data and all filenames will be changed to default names like "File 1, File 2" and so on. Will be hard to look for the files you need with that kind of naming.

I was formatting, so don't need the data as I backed it all up on my other NAS.

I see, I misunderstood. You were formatting directly on NAS device? or on PC?

We don't see too many disk drives that have 100% results on HD Sentinel that have failed.

If possible please run the V2 log collector:

Sorry it's boxed up ready for RMA with Seagate, not sure if I got to wait for someone collecting it or go to Royal Mail... Sorry I didnt run the bat rest above as it's early here and had no sleep @ 4:35am.

My Computer

The Windows drive has the event viewer log files.

These may have entries related to the drive problems that occurred during and immediately the power outage.

If you're able to run either or both then I'll scan them to see whether Windows had created entries related to the drive problems.

The event log and or V2 can be run anytime.

There were no boot problems reported immediately after the power outage.

However it would be best to scan the drive to make sure it did not have any problems during the power outage.

Run Sea Tools for Windows long generic test on this disk drive.

And run Chkdsk /r /v C:
