Solved Help needed to customize my power options

My current power options put my laptop to sleep when plugged in after three hours. The problem is that when I come back to it, I have to login and start my applications again. Ideally I would like my laptop to exit to the lock screen after three hours and turn the monitor off so that when I return to it all I have to do is login and my programs will be in the state in which I left them. This in addition to the monitor being switched off after 15 minutes of inactivity when the laptop is plugged in.

Is there a way to change the power settings to do the above?

Have a look in Control Panel> Power Options lots of options there. click on the bottom one on the left to get to the advanced power settings

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately I don't see anything relevant to my requirement.

Control panel - power options - choose when to turn off the display. I just turn off putting it to sleep. Screen will turn off but easy to start up again - just tap the mouse or screen. You could put 3 hours for turn off the display when plugged in. And "never" for putting it to sleep.

Thank you for the suggestion. This should do it.
I also tweaked the settings by using the "Add Console lock display off timeout to Power Options" in this tutorial so that if I lock the computer the lock screen will be switched off after a predetermined time.
