greetings all .. hope someone can help me with this

i bought 2 Samsung 990 pros 4 TB from amazon back in november

my motherboard : ASUS STRIX MAXIUMS Z790

It was working fine with no issues and they are not even full or near full

all the sudden one of them " i guess " or both started to make weird errors randomly

the first and most common is : i try to play a game .. it gives me error trying to boot

the when i try to verify files i keep getting errors reading game files then suddenly

the game shows up like it was never installed

although i can still get into the SSD menus and check the games inside it and game still there but for some reason unable to be read from the SSD

TRIED everything i know ,, downloaded SAMSUNG MAGICIAN trying to update all firmware etc

changed both SSD locations .. moved games between them .. installed latest BIOS .. removed all overclocks

Did quick and full SSD checks using SAMSUNG MAGICIAN APP .. both SSDs seem fine with no issues

the only way to resolve this issue " TEMPORARY " and not always working

is clean Restart of system

" i mean power off ... unplug .. wait few minutes .. restart "

and its not 100% guarentee to work .. how can i resolve this

i never had those issues before ... and i never faced those back when i used SAMSUNG 980 2TBs

whats going on here .. am i the only one facing this and how can i resolve it ..

appreciate everyone reading whole story and trying to give me guidence

Probably related to Intel's VMD (Volume Management Device). I'm not the guru here on Intel's processors, but from what I understand, the M.2 now or have been for a while, connecting directly to the processors. Maybe someway somehow a bottleneck is being created, maybe you might need to install a raid driver. All of this is just a guess, hopefully someone will come along that has experienced your same issue.

You seem to have done everything regarding your NVMe SSDs but did you update BIOS firmware ? There is an update in May 2025.

Since you're using a 14900k this sounds more like you might have a CPU that is failing. The default bios settings on earlier Intel motherboards tended to cause issues with the 13900 and 14900 processors. Basically burning them up early. Might not be your issue here but something to consider.

Amazon is a marketplace and not all vendors are trustworthy. Did you buy it from a reputable vendor via Amazon or some Chinese vendor via Amazon?

If you mean change disk mode from RAID to AHCI in bios , no you can not just arbitrarily change it. Doing so results in BSOD. There is a special procedure for if one does not want to use IRST drivers on a working system that is set up with disk mode of RAID.

Thank you for the reply .. i had issues before with the processor but nothing with SSDs .. changed mu CPU after about a year or so .. INTEL sent me a replacement for the faulty one and its working fine now + if it had issues it shouldve affected all SSDs + HDDs “ i have 3 HDDS WD black “ .. not just those 2 990 pros .. seems problem is related to them only so far

though I did not activate over provisioning so I did custom mode.

Although this could still be a firmware bug or design defect with the SSD NVMe..
I did report it to Samsung but their reply was lack luster..

Amazon, like eBay et al., are just market places for sellers to ply their wares. You need to identify the actual seller of the product

ill consider this .. although it gave me a warning of " ruining warranty etc " thing when i tried to enable it
is that even safe ??
will it really ruin warranty thing ??
and just by reading some of the discriptions .. why would the SSD even go to " idle or sleep " mode when i am playing using it ?

In the US, the listings tell you. I'm always very careful to buy only things "sold by Amazon" "Ships from Amazon". It may not be the same where you are.
I know Amazon will fully back this sale and gives a 30 day guarantee. After that you have to deal with the manufacturer warranty.
For example these screenshots were taken from 3 different 990 Pro 4gb that I found o Anazon here
from amazon.webp
Some things will say "Sold by xxxxx" "ships from Amazon" .

third.webp
Others will say "sold by xxxx" "ships from xxxx"

third party.webp
In both these 2 cases any problem you have with the sale is between you and the seller.
