Hi, I have a fibre internet connection giving me about 85 mpbs both upload and download speed. I learnt that ethernet speed is ideal to use in devices. The router has two dedicated ethernet ports, one capable of supplying gb speed, another 10/100 fast ethernet ports. To get maximum speed , i had bought a network switch capacity of 1gb. I connected one ethernet main to the gb port and then to a port on network switch. I also had three separate ethernet ports connected to the N.Switch. While i had no problem on the two devices, a laptop and pc. the other pc, having win 7, has got me plug an ethernet error, eventhough i securely connected both the ports on pc and NS.
I had connected the ethernet wire to the NS, and a usb to ethernet adapter to the old pc, and i could see the device manager showing the network adapter devices. But, when i connect it, and open the pc, i get identifying network for a few seconds, followed by no net work access error message. this is repeating and if i t diagnose , i get plug ethernet cable error.
I disconnected the ethernet connection from NS and then connected to the second port directly , fe port , on the modem, without changing the port of usb to ethernet port. Now i get internet access without any hitch and my local lan connection shows as connected.
I also noted that when i connect to the switch, i have two showing of Lan, lan and lan1, with lan showing network unplugged with red cross , and lan1, identfhying and failure messages. are two show up of lan , not correct?
the connection when i connect to the modem direct is given here
why this . Is there any change in network connection settings internally when I connect to the Network Switch, or is there anything that I miss.\please give solution to me, as my switch is having 5 port support
