What is the source of this outbound connection attempt. I used a reset key for an old Epson printer a long time ago. I think it came from that website.

Funny. I use MalwareBytes and I am able to get to that website.

Go to your Allow List in MalwareBytes and you can whitelist the website, and then it should work. I didn't have to whitelist it to get to the 2Manuals website, but my setup is different than yours, so...

Unless I misunderstood your problem....

If you are not initiating the connection, then maybe it is a good thing that it is being blocked. In that case, do a full scan for malware. Maybe that much effort isn't really needed, but that is what I would do.

I have done a malware scan. I am puzzled by the fact that it’s attempting to connect to the internet, and I’m not initiating it.

I looked everywhere I can think of in programs, auto run, and startup
and I can’t find it.

Did you try looking for a task in task scheduler?

Have you considered that it may be the Epson trying to connect online?
I am guessing that for whatever reason, whatever key you used, was contained in a .exe file?

As a rule, if there is the word “Manual” in the web address, I avoid it like the plague. Never would I download an executable from one.

Was it an ink counter key?

On my old Epson I used a counter key. I won’t be doing that again.
