How do I update or delete these java applets?

Running Belarc I go the following warning:

Belarc.webp

The java uninstall tool detected no instance of java on my laptop when I ran it.

I do not see anything called "java" in either Revo or Control Panel's Programs and Features

The hyperlink on that page only leads to information about critical vulnerabilities with no links to update on the Oracle page.

So how would I fix or delete this?

I only see where it appears under missing Security Updates. What should I look out for? Does it come under another name?

From what I can find, Oracle Java is used to create applications that run in a virtual machine or browser. I know Android uses it. I'm just guessing here but maybe it's associated with a browser add-on(extension) or maybe even some third party browser that you are using...

Some Windows apps written in Java will install the Oracle JRE (Java Runtime Environment).

Yeah, googling for answers on this one leads to nowhere. I'm surprised about that. Oracle is of no help, whatsoever...

This isn't an Oracle problem. Oracle will always advise you to install the latest version of JRE or JDK from their website.

The real question is why does Belarc instruct you to install a later JRE if you don't have it installed?

That's a good question. How do I know (for sure) whether I have it installed or not? That it's not just hidden somewhere and I can't see it?

It doesn’t have to be a public JRE, installed for all programs to use and showing in Add/Remove Programs. It could be a private JRE, sitting in some app’s directory.

open the command prompt as administrator then follow the commands as listed.

Yeah, the thing is (and just to confirm it) I already tried the java uninstall tool as mentioned up above and it detects no version of java on my machine. These are java applets which are different from the java program you used to see in Control Panel. I got away from using that a few years back, because they were a security risk and most everybody was moving away from it. But the applets remain because I think some program I'm using needs them. Which one(s), I don't know.

I still appreciate that link, though and will save it for future use in case I need to access it again. Thanks.

Search your PC for .jar files, which are containers for Java files. It's their equivalent of a ZIP file.
Once you find them, you'll know which app owns them.

The Eclipse application is one of many installations that provide an embedded version of Java (JDK), so it does not require a traditional user JDK/JRE installation.

The Belarac Advisor is evidently deeeply probing the installed applications' files and has identified the outdated embedded java version. The 'solution' to this would be an update to Eclipse, so not an Oracle issue.

Yeah, it took me awhile, I had to hunt around. I suspected Eclipse and managed to download an update to the 64bit version from their website. However the 32bit still appears on the report shown on Post #1 up above. I can't seem to find that one.

Of course the report doesn't say "Eclipse" so I don't get why it's not labeled that way. Why they obfuscate the name. 🤨
