How i can make win11 let me download files at the root of c:?

Hi.
I want to make win11 let me download at the root of c: without need to create a new folder.
Is there a way to do that?
As i remember at win7 and win8 i can do that.

In newer systems the root of C: is protected against writing downloaded files.
Probably that is done because system files could easily be overwritten as well.
You will have to make a separate folder, for instance a folder named C:\Downloads

If there was (and I believe there are workarounds) it would be irrisponsible for anyone to post them in this forum as this forum is made for helping people, not helping peope put their PC’s at risk of malware.

Use Google.

Why would you want to do this? This is simply a bad idea.

If you have to ask this, it proves you have no understanding of permissions and how they affect your windows.
Most damage to the OS is done by users. MS knows this and has designed windows in such a way to protect critical core areas of the OS. TAKEOWN command changes ownership with full permissions of file, folder, or drive. This includes trusted installer owned files which a user should never mess with.

What is the result of using this command against the C: drive? ....a world of hurt. Anyone who knowingly persues doing it after being warned deserves having to deal with its aftermath.

As others have mentioned, you really, really shouldn't download (files from the internet), or even carelessly "copy" files, to the C:\ drive.
Doing that is just plain.... unwise. :-)

All I see in your computer specs is... Desktop and Win 7 SP1.

If you post a screenshot of Disk Management, we might have alternate suggestions.
