What Linux can easily do though because it requires a far less stringent demanding set of hardware is to run a Windows Virtual machine really easily which runs office perfectly OK-- KVM/QEMU virtualisation on Linux systems is very fast and efficient, is a TYPE 1 Hypervisor (as is HYPER-V but a load more flexible) and you won't have any problems running ANY older versions of Windows (should later Windows versions make your CPU not "runnable") until the end of the universe if you want - also the VM can run easily in the background so unlike Windows where the VM (even on Hyper-V) runs in "the Users address space" a KVM/QEMU VM can run happily in the background with nobody logged on to the host.
I'm a Linux dude, by trade, so boy oh boy, do I know all of it's benefits !!
For years, I firstly tried doing everything on Linux, and then just gave up, due to spending too much time on things like:
a) Sending Libreoffice docs to agents, and they complained about layout, font issues or just screwed up formatting, when opened with MS Office,
b) Linux drivers for some Printers/Scanners not available or just not reliable,
Also tried the Windows VM approach, which will work for many, but when using Citrix in Windows VM, if you are using Zoom, Teams, you will likely get hit with driver/sound problems, in meetings, or laggy sound etc. Skype workplace meetings, was the worst for this.
With less time to waste and hardware so cheap, found it more efficient, to just have 2nd PC running Windows 11.
Be it 8th gen Intel, or cheap and powerful, "incompatible", with the register key/s ploy.
Obviously, corporate, will just swallow the pill, and upgrade h/w as required.
Not always required, as many late Windows 10 machines, are Intel 8th-10gen, or Xeon W-21xx/22xx, all Win 11 compatible.
