Thank you, yes that page was very confusing, there are numbers and letters all over the place. And it dosent answer my question of when i did the cmd part it said 32gb? That page also says 16 where as the crucial scan said 20 or 24 whatever that means? Im more confused than when i started
From what I see online, though, it does look like all the ASUS X515J sub-models max out at 16 GB. Very interesting! I guess if you can return the SODIMMs, it's probably worth a try. Good observation!ah my apologies for that. It states 8.00 GB (7.74 GB usable)
I haven't heard of 24GB RAM configuration until now. It's either 4. 8. 16, 32, 64. 128 or 256 configuration. RAM stick modules should be matched between slots for best performance. 24GB may be possible but could be useless in achieving more performance. RAM compatibility may not be an issue. But it may affect your laptop's stability. Stay with 16GB.

I have an ASUS laptop. It came with 8 GB ram. 4GB soldered and 4GB in slot. Crucial showed it would support 12 GB ram so I bought an 8GB module to upgrade to 12 GB. The iGPU takes 2GB so leaves 10 GB. Ram shows it still runs in dual channel mode.

The 8GB configuration that is currently present is single channel.
I am sure 24GB will somehow work and compatibilty is not gonna be an issue. But by convention, it is not a recommended configuration. It may have worked on others laptop, but it may not be the same case for everyone.
