Same thing, doesn't save chosen app and there's no checkbox. There's something damaged in the registry and don't know how to fix it. For other extensions such option does appear.

Yes of course they are perfectly playable 3gp video files. With Linux I can change the associations and they are kept perfectly fine. They do play when you select VLC?
Windows has it all tied together, if doesn't allow to change from Settings doesn't appear such option in Properties either.
Will they play in any Windows media players? The reason I ask is because I'm thinking it may be a lack of the .3gp codec being installed.Yes of course they are perfectly playable 3gp video files. With Linux I can change the associations and they are kept perfectly fine.
This is the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT .3gp registry entry exported from my PC, the default app is Films & TV (Movies & TV). Compare it with your registry. If you want, you could copy the code below, paste it into Notepad, then save as 3gp.reg. Then you can import the registry settings by double-clicking on the 3gp.reg file. There's something damaged in the registry and don't know how to fix it.

Glad I could help. That worked, thank you very much!!!! It's solved now.
build info was in post #1Could you please tell me if you are running an insider build or the release version of windows 11.
Have Windows 11 22000.593.....
I have a Build 22000.556 and the file associations are all fecked up!@fortree Another poster has file association issues as well. Could you please tell me if you are running an insider build or the release version of windows 11.
Since I stumbled across another couple of threads about associations I was trying to come up with a pattern thinking it was on one build or another, but nope. OP is on preview, you and other poster are on release. The only thing in common is in each case it's if one has chosen to use a program other than the ones MS wants us to use. Hmmm.file associations are all fecked up
The solution I see it to make a clean install of W11 inside a guest virtual machine, then backup proper registry keys and restore them to host windows machine.I have a Build 22000.556 and the file associations are all fecked up!
Yes you are. March 28, 2022—KB5011563 (OS Build 22000.593) PreviewI never was on preview:
