How to change the 'Welcome' screen picture

Since I could not find a Windows 10 forum, I take it it would not be so different asking here.

Windows offers three (that a aware of) different types of Wallpapers/pics by default:

1. The main desktop wallpaper
2. The lock screen wallpaper
3. The 'Welcome screen' wallpaper. This is the one that appears briefly, and with a small circle in the middle of the screen, with whichever name one chose when installing Windows.

I am interested in the third option. How do I change the Welcome screen wallpaper.

In Windows 11, you can change it in Personalization But I am not sure of the equivalent setting in Windows 10.
And I believe it has to be set as "Picture" not Spotlight.

Hi antspants, I tried that, but it changes my main desktop wallpaper, which I don't want. However, I've not gone all the way, and restart Windows to find out if the Welcome screen has changed too. I'll try that anyway, and I can always change the desktop pic. However, I do not wish to have a lock screen enabled.

Yes, I can change the wallpaper but that's only for the desktop.

Thanks, but none of them helped. The second link was the closest, but it only suggests how to turn on or off the lock screen background, or Welcome screen (gets a bit confusing, I know). What I want is to change it.

And neither of those tutorials change your desktop wallpaper, that’s done in the background section. I just re read both tutorials to check they do what you’re asking.

Actually, your first suggestion worked somehow, where it didn't first time round (turning on 'lock'screen', and changing the Welcome screen wallpaper'. It gets so confusing how Microsoft does things.

Perhaps one day I'll join this 11 forum. I tried Win 11 various times, but couldn't get the hang of it. Let's see what v12 will be like, tough it'll be more bloated for sure.

:lmao: No doubt. I always strip, and tweak Windows with either NTLite or MSMG Toolkit, or both, specially anything to do with security (antivirus, and then some), and privacy issues. For now, 10 LTSC suits me fine. If only some clever person could bring back 7 or XP to the modern era...
