I encrypted system partition using Bitlocker, but it allowed me only to create encryption key! How do i set password yet together with this, i looked into settings and there is no such an option!

Oh i found answer meanwhile, key is embedded in BIOS and should automatically unlock: Win11 no password option for Bitlocker setup Will see, not sure why it asked to backup recovery key, just in case i think, mobo can fail etc.

Thanks!

If you ever had to remove the drive and you put it into another computer, you would need the recovery key in order to unlock it.

This is not strictly correct - bitlocker password is not embedded in bios.

The encryption key is stored in the TPM (alrhough on many pcs the tpm is built into the firmware, so key gets stored into the firmware (we say bios out of habit but really mean firmware).

You only need a password for the main OS C drive if you do not have a TPM (you can use a usb flash drive to hold the encryption keys instead).

The recovery key is needed if tpm fails, or drive is removed.

If you choose to use a password (if no TPM), you will need the recovery key if you forget the password.

If you have a TPM, you can set a password for other drives and set them to automatically unlock. If drive is removed, you need the password or recovery key.

To be really secure, you can set bitlocker to require a PIN so pc cannot boot until pin is entered. This is not the same as the Windows login PIN.
