I installed Free Macrium Reflect and the backup image was corrupt and now, I can't get a bootup. Any help would be appreciated. I'm trying to get it back working for my grandson by Sunday. I wanted to test restore capabilities but, it was a no go.

Yes it does but, I've never used Rufus before. Is there a good tutorial on how to do it?

You don’t need to format the USB, RUFUS will do it.

    • The latest ISO is available via the Media Creation Tool. (Option One in the tutorial below)
    • At the time of this post, the latest version available from Microsoft is: > Windows 11 Version 24H2 build 26100.4349 ISO
    • After Media Creation Tool has finished downloading Windows 11, when asked, tell Media Creation Tool to create the ISO and not burn to media (USB)

    • Download RUFUS
    • #1 Direct RUFUS to your USB
    • #2 Click “Select” and direct RUFUS to the ISO that you downloaded from Microsoft.
    • #3 should sort itself out if the OS drive is partitioned properly. But to be sure, make certain it’s GPT. Your Windows OS really should be partitioned to GPT. Make sure #3 says GPT
    • If you’re running an older system and have no choice but to use MBR (According to your HDD partition structure) then choose MBR at #3 in the image below. Find what partition table is used, in this Tutorial

  • When instigating the creation of the media and clicking “Start”, the following options will show. Select your choices.​

    • Select Remove requirement for 4GB+ RAM, Secure Boot and TPM 2.0 (to bypass requirements)
    • With the rest; Deselect/Select whatever you do/don't want (Like the local account options & Bitlocker)

  • Click OK and the USB install media will be created on the USB​

  • Once Rufus has created the USB installer, you can proceed with the Windows installation.​

How do you know the image was corrupt. Did Maacrium say it was. From Macrium boot disk use it's "fix boot problems"

Hasleo full backup says says corrupted file?

After making full backup image and checking image on quick check, it says is fine. If I do the full check it says corrupted? Anyone else have this problem? I don't know if I can trust it or not? Is there any free Macrium still? Thanks!

Both, now. tried Hasleo, thought Macrium may give a different result, had issues with Macrium image also, apparently.

I'd be doing some hardware checks before I resorted to a clean install. If you're getting corrupt files, then it's likely a hardware issue. I'd start with a memory test. If that passes, then check your drive.

Here's a silly question. Do you actually have to reboot the machine in order for Rufus to work? Or can you just click on the executable in your USB where the ISO image is also located?

The reason I asked is I seem to remember reimaging my OS using the following XML creator


I put the resulting XML file on the same USB stick with the ISO and just clicked on it without rebooting.
