How to mute something permanently (as in after rebooting)

But they're things I don't want. Obviously one program doing 20 things is better than two doing 10 each. If I needed something startallback lacked, I'd add one more program. Then I'd still have two instead of three. The fact remains startallback is an improved version of classic shell or whatever they call themselves now. Even if I paid, a few dollars is pretty much zero, it's not like the astronomical price of Windows, which is somewhere around $150? Not sure, I've never er.... seen a bill.

Like I already told you in post #24, the features that are missing from SAB are the exact same ones that most SAB users didn't actually even bother to look for. They just installed SAB and spent the rest of the day typing messages about how great SAB is, not realizing the fact that you can't easily find something if you don't look. To which I'll add that it's been being like this for like 13 years or so─it started around the time when ClassicShell was gaining popularity especially among those particular Windows 7 users who were already more than just a little familiar with this whole "less is more" type philosophy that you and many others like you have decided to subscribe to permanently. The philosophy already existed long before SAB got released. It's the philosopy that says that having less features is almost always certainly better, as you don't miss out on anything that you never bothered to look for, or that you stubbornly kept refusing to try only because you couldn't understand what the feature was for, and you couldn't understand what made the feature useful (and why it did). Again, it is what it is...

Contrarywise. I used classic shell, got irritated about something I need, used startallback, and just used it. I look for the things I need. One of those ain't in classic shell.

It's like buying a car. I always buy a car with a large capacity so I can put lots of luggage in it. If I bought a tiny car it would be a hassle. I suppose you'd just say I could use a trailer and it would be just as good!

That's why I use multiple programs, scripts, and various other tweaks. It's because it gives me everything I need, also including everything I didn't know I needed until I found out the reason why I did need it, i.e., as opposed to just assuming that I didn't need it. I'm not here to teach you what you need vs don't need, but I know from experience that being early dismissive of useful options tends to be a lot more of a common trap than many think─it's a form of human cognitive bias that no one (including myself) is fully immune to.

I vasty prefer teleportation. But time travel is still the best, as it allows you to reclaim the time you've lost from travelling. lol

Finding things you didn't know you needed is pointless. If you didn't desire it, you didn't need it. Ah, you're into psychology, there's no point in trying to have a logical conversation with you. Stop analysing thoughts and just think.

One of the logical reasons why I'm into psychology (only just a little bit) is because Albert Einstein said that the measure of intelligence is the ability to change. He also said that we can't solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.

Cognitive bias presents a huge variety of problems in everyday life, which is a well-known fact. I win the argument because you said "just think", whereas the only clever approach is to analyze and evaluate thought, to change─as opposed to continue to adhere to the kind of thinking that you otherwise would have known is flawed.

You're insane. You're overthinking and analyzing things so simple they don't need to be. I bet you'd take 7 hours to make sure 2+2=4.

I'm immune to your traps. I use Windows as is. No need for anything outside of that here.

If I want to experiment I switch to Arch Linux, or even better, Linux From Scratch. :wink:
