How to permanently dismiss the "Try New Outlook" yellow ribbon in Windows Mail

At least now if you are using the latest version of Mail app the annoying yellow/orange ribbon automatically goes away when you click on an email message in your inbox. It still re-appears after you close/re-open the app, though...

I know it's an old thread and possibly figured out already, but if not, open notepad and paste the following:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Options\General]
"HideNewOutlookToggle"=dword:00000001

Then save the file as [yourfilename].reg

Run the reg file.

That has never worked for the Windows Mail app, which is what this thread is about...

Apologies for the misinformation, you're correct - I misread the post.
What I wrote only works for Outlook, which also features Microsoft's advertisement for an inferior product.
I miss the Mail app. Simpler times...
