How to Re-Enable Greyed Out Update Button on Windows 11

Hi all ,
as you can see in the sceenshot the "Get the latest updates as soon as they' re available" button is grayed out.
It says it isn't available due to some policy. The computer is mine. I do not change policies , so who know as the time passes how i did that.

OS: Windows 11
My question is : Does anyone know how can i re-enable this option?

Unfortunately none of all these steps solved the situation.
It is very strange that in my screenshot says that this setting isn't available due to my organization policy.
Which policy and which organization.
I own the pc and as far as i know i have not performed a relative policy.
Also very starnge that none of the above steps resolved the situation.

Any other suggestions?

GPEDIT.msc, SECPOL.msc ? or maybe Policy Plus GitHub - Fleex255/PolicyPlus: Local Group Policy Editor plus more, for all Windows editions (plus ADMX file) should have the offending policy.
P. S. In theory, you can install GPEDIT on Home installations using these two commands and a restart:

You need to go to Registry key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate" and remove everything inside.

The OP has an AMD Ryzen 5 4500 in his specs which should be able to run Windows 11 24H2 without bypassing compatibility check. An Intel Core 2 Duo can run Windows 11 21H2, 22H2 and 23H2 if you bypass compatibility check to install or upgrade from previous version. It lacks SSE4.2 instructions so it cannot run 24H2 and the upcoming 25H2 which has the same hardware requirements.

I have that on one of my PCs, it's a supported device for W11, but it dual boots W11 and W10.

In W10 I had set the Target Release version to W10 22H2. That policy greys out 'get the latest updates...'.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    My SYSTEM SIX is a Dell Latitude 5550, Core Ultra 7 165H, 64GB RAM, 1TB NVMe SSD, supported device, Windows 11 Pro 24H2, Hyper-V host machine. Updated to 25H2 on 30th September 2025.

    My SYSTEM SEVEN is a Lenovo Thinkpad T580, Intel Core i7-8650U, 16GB RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD + 2nd 512GB NVMe SSD, a supported device for Windows 11. This is my current general purpose 'main machine'. The installed Windows 11 Home from my System One has been migrated to this machine.

The Intel Core 2 Duo was on his computer specs. It is now as a AMD Ryzen 5 4500 as OP has edited and updated his computer specs after I asked.

Any 64-bit system with at least 2GB RAM and 64GB disk can run Windows 11 up to 23H2 if you bypass compatibility check. 1st generation Intel Core-i3 and equivalent AMD or newer can also run 24H2 and 25H2. 8th generation Intel Core-i3 and 2nd generation AMD Ryzen can run Windows 11 without bypassing compatibility check.
