By activating it, you would be using Portmaster redirecting to their own DNS server.
So:
- Firefox will no longer use DNS over HTTPs
- You would lose the ability to use any public DNS services such as Cloudflare, Quad9, Google, etc.

An overkill in my opinion but it's your system.

He seems to be French and in that language 'translate' is 'traduire', in Italian 'lui traduce' is 'he translates'.
Maybe he was just somewhat confused between languages and certainly did not mean to say "speak badly" or something like that.
