By what I mean we own it: Who cares about legal crap as a home user? You have the system running on your own hardware and it is installed on that hardware. It does not run inside of a cloud (not yet, at least). At least that's how I view it when excluding talking about legal or other rights or places when talking about owning the copy. They do have the right to everything you have said, however, what they should be considerate of in terms of whatever freedom they have, is how it's going to affect their customer base. History has known many such examples, not only in tech companies - Do one wrong move, go too far, stop caring about your customers or users completely and you WILL fail, or at least fall down to much less meaningful position within time. We are humans, people can decide they are fed up of Windows and Microsoft, and while many will stay, many others will change their systems to alternatives. Many tech giants and monopolies on markets have fallen over the years. Microsoft can still fail, even with all power and freedom they have. It only takes one, major, wrong move, even if it's not something like a forced app.

By adding Alt characters to the beginning of the names, so they all end up in the & category.

There are lots of similar by Microsoft poping up. I close one at least once a day lately and it’s often when I am playing a game. Onedrive is one of the others that shows on occasion.

Anyone find a way to uninstall this yet? I manage a computer lab of about 50 PCs and this was added to the start menu. Would love a way to remove it. Tried using ManageEngine's Endpoint Central to block the exe but no look.

So just going to throw it out there. If this is such an issue for people out there and it stems mostly that the appearance of the application in your "All Apps" along with the ordered list of other applications, those who are leveraging Pro/Enterprise installations: why not simply Define your Custom Start Menu - Win10 (which allows for outright removal of your listed applications in Alphabetic order)? >

    • Local setting: Settings > Personalization > Start > Show app list in Start menu
    • MDM policy: Start/HideAppList

Sadly at this time it does not appear that this is achievable in Windows 11 but that may yet change given the structure of the documentation; however you can still Customize your Start Menu in Win11
