HP ProDesk 600 G3

I will be doing this again in the morning and appreciate all the responses.

These desktops are really not needed but I like a challenge and have pc build/setup addiction that needs to be filled.

Will report back.
Good addiction. Much preferable than drugs... Careful, it can steal your sleep. I remember sometimes sleeping past two in the night while installing software and configuring settings. But you sleep happier when you accomplish something than when you couldn't do it.

One thing I don't see mentioned so far:

Some motherboards are stable with 2 DIMMs but not with 4 of a given type. One work-around for that is choosing a lower RAM frequency in the BIOS settings.

If the 600 G3 doesn't let you do that, feel free to utter imprecations against HP.
I did mention to lower the frequency in my previous post. Also to change the order of the modules if not all the same brand and part number.

Yes, I remember those nights very well and going to work the next day.

Been doing this since about 1998 and still love it.

I remember the first week after returning from University at UK back to Greece for vacations I was experimenting with stuff and always damaged Windows. My father was complaining. Then I troubleshoot and fixed it learning and gaining experience. Later at work as a computer technician I knew almost instantly how to repair a computer by just seeing the symptoms. Most of them have faced before. University doesn't teach you advanced troubleshooting. You have to build your own experience. Thankfully with Elevenforum and others we can share this experience. I give advice to others but also take advice when I don't know how to fix an issue. Official Microsoft support will tell you a lot of things you have already tried and will take some posts and time before you read something really helpful.

As and Executive Chef, I have also been the IT guy when IT would take days to answer a complaint in various hotels and restaurants.

IT people did not like me very much on a few properties.

There is a joke about one calling the IT guy because the computer is not working. After telling him to try some things he finally suggests to check the cables. He responds that it is too dark to see and the IT guy suggests to switch on the lights only to get the reply "I can't, the power is off"!

UPDATE:

All is working with the 4 Samsunk sticks now after user error.

It seems that I did not keep the sticks in pairs, but were mismatched (or so I think that was the case).

Currently clean installing with 32gb and Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2024, just to play around with that OS.

This is why I cook for a living and not in IT.

Thank you all for putting up with my ignorance.

Jeff.

The Samsung sticks (all 4) were the exact same model and speeds, however 1 pair were smaller than the other pair.

That baffles me.

The Samsung sticks (all 4) were the exact same model and speeds, however 1 pair were smaller than the other pair.

That baffles me.
Smaller capacity or just smaller physical size?

That baffles me.
To enable dual channel (two modules work in parallel to be faster) you need a pair of same capacity and speed (not necessarily the same brand) or four modules the same capacity and speed or a pair of one capacity and a pair of another capacity but all the same speed. Probably that's your case two pairs of different capacity. In that case if you mix the modules either dual channel is not enabled (RAM works in single channel mode) or it doesn't boot, like in your case.

Physical size in height.
Thanks for clarifying. HP tends to use low-profile RAM. Helps with airflow, as they have a lot of SFF computer models, where everything is crammed into a very tiny box. Not sure about this particular model, but quite often the HDD cage is mounted on top of the RAM modules.

Thats exactly where the removeable HDD/optical cage is mounted.
