I have always install Comodo Firewall but not on this time

Whenever I install fresh Windows I always install Comodo Firewall but this time I havent installed. Should I install it or use Microsoft Defender Firewall ?

Moreover, no new version of Comodo Firewall from 2012.

I believe that should be a deal breaker and answer your question.

I'm not up to date on Comodo firewall.
that it is from 2012 dont mean a thing in itself.. what is important is if there is any relevant CVE's that's make it good or bad.

I dont give 2 cents for windows firewall as it has hidden override rules to allow core functions to bypass firewall rules.
As one example i posted about over at 10forums is that Windows update can not be blocked in windows firewall. (they might have change that now, but a year ago it wasn't possible) a firewall should ALWAYS be able to block all services and all programs to get internet access.

Comodo has one thing superior to windows firewall.. block all inbound/outbound connections by default and ask for permission.... Windows firewall philosophy is.. Let everything go online..

So is Comodo firewall from 2012 good or bad????
ask AI to list all CVE's and also ask the AI to explain the real threat of those CVE's from your own setup perspective/use case.
a lot of CVE's is local if someone sit at your computer.. i often ignore a lot of those, as if someone has physical access to the computer, you have bigger problems then one CVE. *lol*
The dangerous ones is those that can be exploited from the outside.

While you're at it, ask AI about potential impacts of not keeping Windows updated.

i've been using nothing but Defender for years and years and years. Haven't experienced any problems with viruses or malware on my machines.

IMHO, Defender is fine.

What we've use for years with no issues.

No need for third-party firewall software.

i love that one.
I never had any viruses for 20 years.. so therefor i can't get any viruses the upcoming 20 years.

Edit: This one is a good one too.. I'm running Linux, so i cant get any viruses.

@Marie SWE..........Linux IS very safe from viruses, but it isn't 100% immune. I don't believe any operating system is.

Userbase is low enough that nobody wants to waste their time trying to hack it.

yes.. Linux is safer, but only as it has a low market share so bad actors dont spend time making much malware/viruses/spyware to Linux. If it had been the other way around.. 75% Linux market share and only 7% Windows market share.. then Windows had been safer as bad actors wouldn't spend time on so "few" users
But Linux is growing and that is fast.. just a few years ago Linux only had 2%.. so i have a feeling that when Linux reaches 10-15% we will see more bad stuff coming.

exactly, but time is changing i was surprised when i had a look now that Linux have grown from 4% to 7% when i looked the last time two years or so back.
But there is a list of malware-etc to Linux.. I had the discussion on a linux forum where they talked about Linux dont need an antivirus program as "linux cant get infected". so i posted a list of them and then that discussion died fast... as oopsi it do exist Malware/viruses/spyware to linux.
But yeah.. you can almost say that the risk is as great as the percentage market-share of the OS.. BSD might be the way to go as that has almost zero share

Speaking of low market share…. I don’t know why people still quote StatCounter. Their market share is lower than Linux.
