its possible but it would have to be an aspect of the cpu that is only an issue when trying to run win from an nvme drive. it passed multiple types of stress test with no issues . a few of those focused on memory and cpu interaction. at this point my best guess is something has gone wrong with the pci lanes or some other aspect of cpu specifically related to interacting with pci lanes to m.2 the machine is happily running win 11 pe from a stick. will know for sure when i swap mobo because it will either be fixed or it wont, and if it wont then its almost certainly cpu. ill confirm at that point by buying the cheapest lga 1700 processor from cex to test to confirm.

when i was originally swapping the old sticks in and out the bios would tell me if a stick was not in the stability preferred dimm slot. did so for both single stick tests and 2 stick tests. should i ignore bios warnings
