I will keep using 8.1 for as long as it keeps working (I have 4 'lifetime' licences). If it stops working one day then I will consider using an alternative.

Just wondering if there will be any more updates for 8.1 because there hasn't been any for ages now? Not to worry, as long as it still works I'm not bothered.

Oh, I had this pop up when I opened Reflect this morning. Sorry, not interested... like a lot of people I don't do subscription software.

Actually LTSC gets the same updates as v8.1, but long after v8.1 gets them.

Reflect v8.1 is now in Extended Support for one year that started with the release of Reflect X on 8th October 2024.

Extended support means updates will only be issued for "...critical security and functional bugs, and compatibility issues introduced by Windows updates". There will be no "new features" or "functionality improvements". The lack of recent updates just means there are no new security or compatibility issues that need fixing.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven below to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

I've been using Reflect v7 for several years and am absolutely happy with it. I'm only annoyed that I missed the possibility to upgrade to - I think - v8.1 by a few months. I tried talking to Macrium, but they basically refused to listen. I simply asked them to let me still purchase a licence for 8.1 which they surely still have in the system since that product is still supported, or they won't see a single cent from me ever again, because I'm not ever paying for subscription, and they didn't give a rubbish. So I'm sticking with v7 indefinitely until I get a feeeling I want something else.

Not in my rxperience. About the same. Reflect VX os much faster though.

Just checked V5.2 - I could not see V5.3 but I agree its speed is similar to Reflect VX on my pc. V5.1 was slower.

As @trevo says, they are both fast enough.

My only concern, being "New Kid on the Block" is the rate of development of Hasleo is very fast, and I have yet to get the reliability confidence level I have with many years of Macrium Reflect produce usage.

Still, I have to say it is giving all the other free products (and some paid) out there a run for their money (😄:money:).

Don't know but I do not understand what it means by version 5.0 release 3 - I definitely got 5.2.

Maybe 5.0 release 3 is sort of 5.0.3?

v5.0 is exactly that... v5.0. The .3 is nothing more than a sub-release of the 1st minor version (v5.0). The current minor version (as of yesterday) is v5.2... the sub-release # is .2.0 making the full release at this point v5.2.2.0 (file/properties/details) of the installer).

I found out that they use two different versioning systems!

There is version 5.1 or 5.2 and also version 5.0 R1, R2 and R3

So Microsoft managed to kill older Macrium Reflect versions driver, basically killing perfectly working software I bought, so I really do need to find a replacement now.
I am almost sure I will go with O&O DiskImage, but before I go ahead with that, just in case, is anyone aware of anything decent that's opensource that can do the basic full and incremental backups, restoring and whatnot?
