If Macrium Reflect X is too expensive, what will you switch to?

RescueZilla is open souirce so free and never fails a non tech like me.
If you have a very large screen you may have to google to adjust your resolution.
I have a Macrium 8 license but don't do subscriptions.

Uh, what is that? Live CD image I have to boot? I just need a Windows program that runs at startup and creates disk/file+folder backup image on a local server. This doesn't seem to be that. Or am I missing anything?

I have the 4-pack subscription of Macrium X, which I got one of mthe Black Friday specials for half off for life. Now, I pay $49.95 per year for the 4-pack, which comes down to $1 per month per PC. Well worth it. I've used Macrium for a long time and plan on sticking with it.

I just let my Macruim X subscription expire and cancelled it on my ARM machine. Still have 8.1 on the two intel machines but I am also running Hasleo Backup Free on all three machines now and I like it. For basic backup needs its great so no need for me to pay for subscription software.

I tried that and it didn't do anything, Macrium 7 still wouldn't work unless I flat out disabled that memory protection feature

When you disable the Vulnerable Driver block list, it WILL disable Memory Integrity.
I've had mine disabled since Oct. 2022. No problem at all.

diskgenius can clone or preferably "migrate os" as well as partitioning functions.

I have 8 licenses of Reflect X, but if I don't want to use up a license and I need to do a one-time backup, then I like to use drive snapshot. See the link below. The graphical interface is extremely simplistic, and it doesn't include all the options that I normally use, so I simply run it from the command line. If you're not a big command line fan, then this one may not be the best choice for you. But it's fast and easy, and it just works exceptionally well.

I've also used Veritas System Recovery, Desktop Edition and found it to work very well but just let my license lapse a few months ago.

Finally, I also have played with Active@ Disk Image. I find that program to work quite well, but it does have one fatal flaw for me: It has no option to exclude files from a disk image backup. Unfortunately, that one is a deal breaker for me.

Drive snapshot is a cute little thing. Runs from pe with nothing extra required. It hasnt got fancy extras like exclusions or delta restore, which is probably not a deal breaker for many people.

For a one-time backup where I don't want to install Reflect I boot the machine from a Macrium rescue USB. It's not just for restores, it can make backups too.

Another way is backup to a .wim

it is not quick but exclusions can be done and it can be accessed by many programs to apply/mount/copy out individual files etc. Ther are advantages to the wim.

to avoid commands it is easily done with dism++ or winntsetup

It appears you have not done thorough research. Hasleo Backup Suite is not open source but the free version a basic clone feature, backup for System, Partition, and File backup with scheduling. It takes a bit of work to to discover/use its various features but this is like any other new program that you are not familiar with.

The paid versions, one-time purchase, have more features and are relatively inexpensive with or without lifetime support.

As far as I know, the new free version of the Hasleo Backup (and also the Acronis True Image) does not backup Windows LTSC
This is an unacceptable restriction for me.
The free versions of the Macrium Reflect (and also TeraByte IFW) can backup Windows 10 LTSC and Windows 11 LTSC

I have had a 4 computer paid license for Macrium for years, it's very powerful and dependable. It offers more backup options than most of the competition but can be intimidating for new users. I recently bought a new Asus laptop with a trackpad. Macruim's restore via USB doesn't support the trackpad or the keyboard but neither does Hasleo or Minitool Shadowmaker.

I downloaded a copy of Ashampoo Backup Pro 27 and installed it. I was able to successfully build my recue USB with their software for for my Asus laptop on the first try. Ashampoo Backup Pro builds its recovery USB by creating a bootable, Windows-based environment (WinPE) that includes the necessary drivers for your hardware and a portable version of the Backup Pro software. The process requires the Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit (ADK) to be installed, which Ashampoo automatically downloaded and configured to build the drive. It supports secure boot and bitlocker.

Does it have all of Macruim's bells and whistles? No, but it has the options I need and is simple to use. I bought a license for 3 computers 18 dollars for the year. This company is based in Germany and has been in business for years.

I also use Rescuezilla's linux based highly recommended backup and recovery software, to backup both my linux and windows partitions. Its USB iso contains a GUI interface, rescue environment complete with wifi, browser, disk, terminal and gparted. It's not dependent on the windows operating system or it's drivers to work which makes it a valuable option to have. It just works...

Not that easy anymore, I've read all the posts and tried the suggestions pulled the needed drivers out of my 6 GB backup driver file..
