Thoughts on Windows 11

Well, I'm not done with it, but neither am I happy. I like may task bar on the left side and find the bottom awkward. I also don't like having to click open 2 or 3 levels to get basic options like "refresh." It would have been nice if they'd fixed the search bar in explorer, too. It's actually gotten harder to paste than it had become in 10.

Experience tells me that eventually everything will be adapted to 11 and be harder to use with older versions of the os, so I'll keep it and learn work arounds if necessary. I'm not sure my old computers have the capacity for 11, though.

. . .
UH.... I'll have to come back later to read all the way through to see how the got to cars. I commented on the original post.

I also don't like having to click open 2 or 3 levels to get basic options like "refresh."

Pressing F5 for refresh works, quicker than messing with the "more" option if you don't want to install the fix.

K, this irks me!
I attempt to download and install legitimate software and Windows blocks it 57 different ways!
Then, poof..., installed, behind my back, without my knowledge, permission or confirmation...

I've only just joined this forum, but I seem to remember that Microsoft said "Windows 10 was the last OS you would ever need".
What does that make Win 11, the "next to last OS you will ever need"?
Perhaps the logic was that the MS statement was true the day they said it. It had no value the following day.

Hi and welcome to the forum
First off that comment was a toss away one from an employee and it didn't represent what MS's position is/was.

As for 11.. it is what it is.. you can use it or stay with 10. Both are great operating systems. IMO

Thanks guys (& gals), everything is a bit strange - new forum, new OS, etc
If I make any weird errors with using the system please forgive me as it will will take a while for it to bed down in my brain.
Yesterday I was using '10forums' and I eventually discovered that I needed 2 CR to get a 1 line space to make things easier to read.
My first job on loading Win 11 was put the taskbar over the left hand side.
Hope to be letting you all help me in the future.
Regards

I've heard that some cars come with a can of Fix-A-Flat.
My 6 year old car has no spare, a can of fix-a-flat, and an air pump. Never had to use either of them.

Also have no issue with where control settings have been moved to in Win 11. It is just a learning where to find them. If does not matter to me if it is a few more clicks to get to the infrequently used functions.

Mine is similar, except there's no air pump, in the tyre well are two aerosol cans of the equivalent of fix-a-flat, there is the sealant and enough pressure to inflate the tyre,

obviously in my wallet is my AA Card To stop me drinking myself silly get the AA to sort out the problem if I need them - I also carry the AA app on my phone that automatically GPS locates me and forwards that to the AA.

For a local problem I would normally just ring the local tyre fitter who does a roadside service and carry the low profile 18" tyres I use

I like W11. I've been using it as an Insider since it was introduced. The only things that I don't really care about are the Start Menu, you have to click one more time than you had to in W10 to get to All Programs, some menu items are hidden behind, once again, an extra click, and some of the items in Options are less easy to find or get to. I'm getting used to these things but still not liking it. Just to add a little history too. A lot of us in the Insider Program voiced our dislike to the new Start Menu, either verbally (Typed) or by upvoting, I did both, but it doesn't seem like MS is going to change that one. So much for Insiders opinions and MS listening. But anyway, like I said, getting used to it but still frustrated.

There aren't many groups that could get away with writing a song about a school shooting....

Geldof is a leftie who plays a regular guitar upside down (bass strings at the bottom). Not the best setup, but it means you can play other people's guitars.

In comparison, Mark Knopfler is also a leftie but plays a right handed guitar the right way up - so his dominant hand does the clever fretwork.

Bob is left handed and he has very few guitars to choose from.. it's the same thing Hendrix faced and they both played right handed guitars upside down.

UH.... I'll have to come back later to read all the way through to see how the got to cars. I commented on the original post.
Here's how...

My post...
Here I completely agree with you.

Not quite sold on this argument. I mean people will complain the OS isn't Windows 7 or XP like; that the the UI sucks, the Start Menus sucks, the OS sucks, everything 11 sucks, but in the end they'll still wind up using it

And I personally don't think Microsoft should relent on the OS requirements or the direction 11 is headed. I mean if we listened to all the nay-sayers we'd still be riding horse drawn carriages and using telegraph o_O

Morphed into this...
:) yup... But car makers didn't remove the radios from the cars and tell everyone to use a third party streaming service because the radio takes up to much space. Yeah... people will continue to use it. They will just "get used to it." Complacency is a wonderful tool. The need for reliable transportation outweighs the need for the radio.
The radio has not been removed yet, but the cassette player, cigarette lighter, ash tray, spare tire have been removed, and the CD player will be next. They just remove stuff. It is up to the buyer to decide is they want it and how they will adapt.

And suddenly everyone wants to talk about spare tires
