Hi

I wanted to install latest Realtek Audio Driver so I downloaded this
www.intel.com

Download Intel Drivers and Software

Download new and previously released drivers including support software, bios, utilities, firmware and patches for Intel products.

but when I install I get this error

Install Realtek Audio Driver Failure !!
[Error Code : -0001]

No driver supported in this driver package.

So I went to asus driver page and installed the audio driver and it was installed without a problem but it is old version 6.0.9238.1 so how I can install the updated version above 6.0.9285.1 ?

PS. I have creative sound blaster card installed but I wanted to use the built in realtek audio optical device to test something.

Run Windows update. It may show an updated driver under advanced optional-optional updates. If the driver you want is new, it may be a while before windows update will list it.
I'm running on 60.9257.1 without issues.

Hi,

Yes it's normal, DTS Custom is dedicated to headphones (as shown in the app screenshot you posted) connected via 3.5mm jack.

Nowadays no motherboard delivers anything other than Stereo PCM via SPDIF/Optical, so no Dolby/DTS (unless your audio equipment allows Stereo PCM upmixed to Dolby/DTS on its side).

I have sound blaster z from creative and from yesterday the optical/digital output stopped with my logitech z906, the decode led never turn on whether I select Dolby or DTS so I tried the analog output from the card and it work fine so I connected the optical cable to the realtek optical output and it also work !! I dont know why my sound blaster or my speakers has no sound in from optical.

About realtek built in sound card I saw those options

No, as explained, you can't delivers anything other than Stereo PCM via SPDIF/Optical, so no Dolby/DTS outputed. However your audio equipment (Logitech Z906) allows Stereo PCM upmixed to Dolby/DTS on its side (Dolby Digital/DTS Digital Surround).

Not arguing just learning: in sound blaster command I can select the encoder type then the decode led turon on but now the decode led in the speakers never turn on so the sound card is faulty ?

You're Sound Blaster Z can delivers Stereo PCM & Dolby/DTS (unlike your motherboard) via SPDIF/Optical, however it seems that the drivers for your Sound Blaster Z seems to no longer work properly (I can't help you with your sound card, contact Creative support).

Yes I know. Their drivers have problems to update and even updating manually with the 3 new versions I currently have does not even detect the card . I gave up contacting them.

I found a solution for the bad driver and now my sound blaster z detected and it work fine. Question please (@MoKiChU if you have time)

Should I choose speakers 5.1 or SPDIF-OUT for better sound ?

Both output audio from optical but this time enabling the encoder Dolby or DTS does not make the z906 decoder led on.
