Just had my PC fixed about 2 weeks now and all of a sudden this event63 comes up. My PC just goes black and I have to reset it to reboot. It was doing this before and that is what cause my whole windows 11 to get corrupt. I can't keep taking it into the tech I can't afford it, 3 times already. He said he never saw an error like that before. I need help fast, please

Level 3 is a warning. This one won't shut down your system. I was getting these event log entries every boot with no issues. The warnings went away - I suppose with an Intel ME driver update or Windows update. I suspect this is a coincidence and it is something else. I would focus my attention elsewhere for a cause.

Would a bad monitor be the cause? That's the only issue I would have monitor-related, colors are fine and everything else seems fine. The monitor is quite old. Would a bad Display cable cause it? I use the display port.

I doubt it. Are there any warnings about your AMD video in the system log?

What did they "fix" and what do you mean by your Windows is corrupt?

Do you mean the event log about the AMD card? Tech said my installation of windows 11 was badly corrupt, they couldn't get it to reboot, it wouldn't even let them use my EaseUS backup. They had to reinstall a fresh windows 11 but now the black screen showed up again 2 times 2 days ago.

A lot of WMI warnings

The WHEA error is concerning. It is your PCI Express root port #2. If you are having corrected hardware errors then you may be getting unrecoverable hardware errors, which would crash your PC. It is a root port, I don't know what device is causing it. Could be your graphics card/drivers.

Try turning off PCI link state power management in BIOS
DId they install the chipset drivers when they installed a new windows version? You could try installing the Intel chipset drivers. Are there any yellow "!" in the Device Manager?
Are your video card drivers up-to-date?

No yellow "!" Video card is up to date. Now I did however found this but don't know if it is a problem but it is for me. I have the 970 EVO NVMe M.2 SSD 1TB and when I took my pc in to get the new motherboard and cpu I don't think they put it in the right slot. Trying to run a smart scan on the samsung magician and it says I don't have an NVMe installed also I tried to install new drivers and it said the same thing. I'm trying to find out what slot to put in it as I can do that myself I did it with my old motherboard but I don't remember the slot. M.2_1, 2, 3 or 4. Even in the BIOS it doesn't have that drive as m2 NVMe. Could this be that they didn't put my 970 nvme in the right slot? Hey I appreciate this, as I said I can change out my ssd myself, I did on my other MB and didn't have issues. Now where I have it in red that's my graphics card and I just saw where the #6 is that's where my SSD NVme should be right? As far as I know they install the intel drivers because they were in my downloads folderimg001.jpg20221228_002505.jpgFound this in the BIOS

It shouldn't matter much which M.2 slot you put the NVME card in. All of the M.2 slots are PCI-E 4.0. M2_1 is presumably run off the CPU (rather than the chipset), but I think you won't see a performance difference from the other slots.

A 970 Evo uses special Samsung drivers. Are those installed?

Probably nothing to do with your issue.

Are the latest Chipset and IME drivers installed for the motherboard? A quick Web search suggests those may be the cause. of the IntelMEProv event 63 error. I'm not sure that error is causing your black screens, though.

Short answer is it doesn't matter which it is plugged into to some extent. It should not be causing you problems.

The m.2 above the graphics card , m.2_1, is on the processor PCI-E bus. The other ones are on the Z690 chipset PCI-E bus, and have to communicate with the processor through the DMI bus, which all other devices use to transfer data to/from the processor. It is therefore usually the better choice to use the m.2 with links directly to the processor - the one above the graphics card.

The BIOS page you are looking at is showing only the processor PCI-E devices, which are the two graphics card slots and the processor m.2_1. So it is obviously not plugged into m.2_1.

If you want to see where your nvme drive is plugged into, you also have to look at the BIOS SATA page, which will show any nvme drive attached that uses the Z690 chipset's PCI-E. Unfortunately Asus BIOS has those m.2 slots use the Intel RST drivers by default. This is not bad as they are good and well performing drivers for nvme - I use them. However they won't show up as nvme, but Intel RST devices in Windows, even though they are using nvme protocol. Other choice is Windows default nvme driver, thiough it is a little tricky to switch between them. I recommend not using the Samsung nvme drivers as they are very outdated - predating Windows 11 I think.

Did you try turning off the PCI-E links state power management as I suggested?
Are the Intel Chipset drivers installed (look in the control panel -> Programs and features or in the settings -> apps to see if they are.
WHEA errors are hardware errors. This is probably where your problem lies.
Did it hard crash or did you get any crash dumps (these would be in Windows\minidump

I have a similar ASUS motherboard and the M.2_1 slot can only use a NVMe Gen 4 SSD and only with a Gen 11 or higher CPU. A Gen 10 or lower CPU will render M.2_1 as "disabled". Read your manual as your motherboard may have the same limitaion.

I recommend not using the Samsung nvme drivers as they are very outdated - predating Windows 11 I think.
sO WHAT DRIVERS SHOULD i USE?
Did you try turning off the PCI-E links state power management as I suggested?
Are the Intel Chipset drivers installed (look in the control panel -> Programs and features or in the settings -> apps to see if they are.
WHEA errors are hardware errors. This is probably where your problem lies.
Did it hard crash or did you get any crash dumps (these would be in Windows\minidump
I'm not sure is the attached pic the one? I'm going to check the slots when the nvme drive is.

Here are some other pics in my BIOS

In your case you should have VMD enabled, no disk mapped under VMD (and so, Intel RST disabled).

But :

- I see in your pic that Intel Rapid Storage Technology is enabled.
- I see in your other pic of your Device Manager that you have some Intel VMD Managed Controller devices

So, unmap the disks under VMD in your BIOS :

Advanced tab > System Agent (SA) Configuration > VMD setup menu :

- Enable VMD controller : Enabled
- Map PCIE Storage under VMD : Disabled
- Map SATA Controller under VMD : Disabled

Following this, you will see your Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 1 TB in your M.2_1 port.

Also, please refer to this post : [DRIVERS] Intel Chipset/MEI/SATA/VMD (1xx/2xx/3xx/4xx/5xx/6xx/7xx)
