IntelMEPro keeps shutting down my pc

In your case you should have VMD enabled, no disk mapped under VMD and Intel RST disabled.

But I see in your pic that Intel RST/RAID is enabled, please disable it and demap the disks under VMD if you have any.

Please refer to this post : [DRIVERS] Intel Chipset/MEI/SATA/VMD (1xx/2xx/3xx/4xx/5xx/6xx/7xx)
do that even if I don't have a RAID setup?
In your case you should have VMD enabled, no disk mapped under VMD (and so, Intel RST disabled).

But :

- I see in your pic that Intel Rapid Storage Technology is enabled.
- I see in your other pic of your Device Manager that you have some Intel VMD Managed Controller devices

So, unmap the disks under VMD in your BIOS :

Advanced tab > System Agent (SA) Configuration > VMD setup menu :
- Enable VMD controller : Enabled
- Map PCIE Storage under VMD : Disabled
- Map SATA Controller under VMD : Disabled

Following this, you will see your Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 1 TB in your M.2_1 port.

Also, please refer to this post : [DRIVERS] Intel Chipset/MEI/SATA/VMD (1xx/2xx/3xx/4xx/5xx/6xx/7xx)
Disabling the last 2 the pc wouldn't reboot so I set it back to enable and it rebooted

I'm not sure is the attached pic the one? I'm going to check the slots when the nvme drive is.
Yes, disable the top line - native pci-e power management

well I think we were both wrong the NVme is installed above the graphics card
Well then it is not showing up in BIOS because it is Intel RST controlled, which is fine. I would leave it to those drivers, but make sure they are updated.

This must be done because you're not using RAID precisely (like most users).

Disabling the last 2 the pc wouldn't reboot so I set it back to enable and it rebooted

This must be done in your BIOS before installing Windows, so :

- Either you clear CMOS your BIOS, then check that Map PCIE/SATA Storage under VMD is Disabled then clean install Windows with your new BIOS settings.
- Either you keep your current BIOS settings & your current Windows install as @geneo tells you, your SATA AHCI and PCIe NVMe drives will be managed by Intel VMD.

It shouldn't matter much which M.2 slot you put the NVME card in. All of the M.2 slots are PCI-E 4.0. M2_1 is presumably run off the CPU (rather than the chipset), but I think you won't see a performance difference from the other slots.

A 970 Evo uses special Samsung drivers. Are those installed?

Probably nothing to do with your issue.

Are the latest Chipset and IME drivers installed for the motherboard? A quick Web search suggests those may be the cause. of the IntelMEProv event 63 error. I'm not sure that error is causing your black screens, though.
I tried to install the newer NVme drivers but it says I need a NVme drive installed.

and that is the reason the nvme doesn't show up as one? I just had to reinstall windows for the 3rd time when I took it to the tech. Only thing I can't update the Nvme driver with a nvme on because it says it's not installed so what kind of driver would I look to update it? I'm going to print out all of this in case I have to take it back to him and I keep thinking they messed it up. Had no problems with my ROG MB. Now this attachment is from the samsung magician and I never was able to set this if I wanted to. It was greyed out for that drive. Now it's available. Don't understand

So two things.

Your nvme configuration should work, I don't think that is your problem.

I do not have a board with VMD. What MoKiChU suggested is the optimal configuration. It won't boot because of the trickiness I alluded to before about switching from RST to Windows standard nvme drivers. When you disable the two VMD mapping options it will want to boot to Windows standard nvme drivers but windows is configured to boot via the RST drivers - that is why it won't boot. Two ways around that in my experience (though I haven't used VMD).

1. Disable those options in BIOS and boot directly to safe mode. Then you should be able to boot normally.
2. As you are now, uninstall the RST drivers in Windows then boot to safe mode. After that godirectly to the BIOS and disable those two VMD mappings. You should then be able to to boot normally to Windows using the Windows Standard nvme drivers.

But as they are should work with no issues, just not optimally (you will be using RST instead of VMD).

I believe your real issue probably lies elsewhere - the WHEA you are seeing.

EDIT: MoKiChU - cross posted

I explain it however in the post that I passed to you previously : [DRIVERS] Intel Chipset/MEI/SATA/VMD (1xx/2xx/3xx/4xx/5xx/6xx/7xx)

VMD enabled in your BIOS (Default) :

- SATA HDDs/SSDs in AHCI mode use Microsoft built-in "Standard SATA AHCI Controller" Driver + Intel VMD Driver for Intel VMD Controller device.

- PCIe SSDs in NVMe mode use Microsoft built-in "Standard NVM Express Controller" Driver (Recommended for DirectStorage/RTX IO) or vendor specific NVMe Controller Driver + Intel VMD Driver for Intel VMD Controller device.

- SATA/PCIe HDDs/SSDs in RAID mode use Intel VMD Driver for Intel VMD Managed Controller & Intel VMD Controller devices.

You were in the third scenario (RST/RAID mode).

any ideas on that? Because that is when the screen goes black but the PC itself is still running but the screen is black and I can't do anything but reboot the PC. Last time it did that so many times it finally didn't let me boot up and I had to take it in to the tech shop. Also do I uninstall RST drivers through the device manager?

No, VMD is still used, but not in RAID mode.

On the other hand :

- A lot of BSODs generated by old Intel VMD Drivers are fixed : https://downloadmirror.intel.com/751275/Release_Notes_19_5_1_1040.pdf

You can always find the last here : [DRIVERS] Intel Chipset/MEI/SATA/VMD (1xx/2xx/3xx/4xx/5xx/6xx/7xx)

- Intel VMD Drivers (Drivers Only) :
Drivers - 6xx/7xx : 19.5.1.1040 WHQL [25/08/2022]

- Going back to your original issue with WMI SWC Driver from Intel MEI Drivers packages, follow this to cleanup :

- Uninstall Intel Management Engine Components from your apps installed (Start > Settings > Apps) then restart your PC
- Launch Driver Store Explorer (Launch as admin) > Check the boxes of all versions of these drivers .inf (if you find them) : heci.inf | dal.inf | dal_wc.inf | iclsclient.inf | lms.inf | mesrl.inf | mewmiprov.inf | wiman.inf | wiman_wlan_extension.inf
- Check the box "Force Deletion" then click on the "Delete Driver" button then restart your PC
- Download the Intel MEI Drivers package from the first post of this thread : [DRIVERS] Intel Chipset/MEI/SATA/VMD (1xx/2xx/3xx/4xx/5xx/6xx/7xx)
- Follow the Install/Update Process

How do I make the logs? Right now since I started this thread I haven,'t had the black screen but I did get those errors in the last few days.

The instructions are listed at the beginning of the forum section marked "bsod crash analysis'
I am tagging the mods @z3r010 and @barman58 to see if one of them thinks this thread needs to be moved to that section.

I was able to delete the heci.inf but wouldn't let me delete the mewmiprov.inf an error came up.

Try to remove it via the Device Manager by uninstalling the device (Software components > Intel(R) Management Engine WMI Provider) and checking the box to remove the drivers.

any ideas on that? Because that is when the screen goes black but the PC itself is still running but the screen is black and I can't do anything but reboot the PC. Last time it did that so many times it finally didn't let me boot up and I had to take it in to the tech shop. Also do I uninstall RST drivers through the device manager?
There's a lot going on in this thread! I occasionally experienced a black screen, as you have described, with Windows still running, and I would have to physically turn off my PC then start it again. It was after I had updated my BIOS, which process set the APM to S4/5. I changed it to S5, which resolved the problem.

This replaced my Linux Notebook. I've used Windows since V2, tried various Linux distros but Windows continues to win for me.

Yes I updated my BIOS too after I got it back from the tech guy. But I still get the black screen
