My Defender has gone belly-up, and won't start and won't permit updates, and is generally malfunctioning. I want to do an in-place, and I'm aware that @Brink insists "The Windows 11 installation media (ISO or USB) must be the same edition, same version, and same or higher build as the currently installed Windows 11." I'm running 23H2 22631.2506, and I want to get the ISO for that version and that build. Is it now up to date? Link?

It is only the major build number, 22631, that need to be the same or higher. The minor build number doesn't count. If you download the ISO direct from Microsoft it will be 22631.2428, that one will be fine to use for an in-place repair upgrade.

When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro (and all my Hyper-V VMs).

I got the full ISO using MS and the multiple version & Language setting and just made changes to English and Pro.

Thanks, friends. Got it. Install in progress. Does MS always take a while to supply an ISO download? Seems to me to have taken about ten minutes to get it. My download speeds aren't that bad.

Yes, the ISOs take a long time for me as well. I have gigabit internet and it took 14 minutes. Maybe it has something to do with installing it on a flash drive?
