I have had a lot of success using MR Free and am considering upgrading to Home, but is it worth £50?

1 Is the backup and restore any faster?

2 Is the ReDeploy feature any good?

3 Are there other useful features for the home user? I know it gives access to their forum.

I purchased the 4 pack of Macrium Reflect Home primarily to just support the company as I had used the free product for a long time without issue.

Some advantages of the paid for version include
  1. Encrypted backups
  2. Image Guardian that helps protect your backup files from ransomware
  3. Incremental backups
  4. Rapid Delta Restore and Clone.
  5. Ability to backup files and folders

I used Free for a year or so before I bought my licence in a Black Friday sale.

It can be. For the backup Changed Block Tracking (CBT) can speed up determining which sectors need backing up. For the restore Rapid Delta Restore will only restore those sectors that have changed since the backup, while Free just restores them all.

TBH I've never found a need to use it. Windows itself it pretty good at sorting out the right drivers to use. My System One below had the Windows 10 image from my old Intel based unsupported 'main machine' restored to a new AMD based supported device in order to get the Windows 11 upgrade, all without needing ReDeploy.

Incremental backups is the one I find most useful. A series of incremental backups will be smaller that a series of Differential backups.

If you always do a Full backup that's not of much help, but I like to do a Full once a month, and an Incremental for any minor changes during the month.

I actually have more that 4 machines, for the less important ones I still use Free.
