Is there any way to change the taskbar color from grey in Light Mode?

Why, oh why has Microsoft taken away the ability to change the taskbar colors in light mode?

I have always had my taskbar set to a medium blue. While I was checking out some new themes just for fun, Windows suddenly changed my taksbar to light grey
WHAAAAAT?

Any my understanding so far is that this cannot be changed back if you're in light mode, which I am.

Does anyone know of a solution to this? I'll even use third party apps to get it back

Well here's ten points, just for filling out your computer specs.

You can get TranslucentTB at the Microsoft Store to make the Taskbar clear, and other options...







And there's this...

You do not need any app to accomplish what you want.
There's a trick to get Windows to have a dark taskbar when using light mode.

go to settings-personalization- colors. Make sure your chosen color is selected..
under 'choose your mode', change it to dark mode (this is temporary)

Toggle 'show accent color on start and taskbar' to ON and toggle 'show accent color on title bar and windows borders' to ON.(if you want the chosen color on title bar and borders. Otherwise leave it off)

scroll back up to 'choose your mode' change it to CUSTOM

set 'choose your windows default mode' to DARK

set 'choose your app mode' to LIGHT

You may have to log-off before you see the result.

Thank you everyone. Mea culpa. My fault. I realized after I posted in a panic that I had had my mode set to dark and apps set to light -- like glasskutter said. Thanks for being patient with a forum noob. I'll also look into translucentTB. Sounds cool.
