Hi All -

I have a CPU core temp app that asks for permission every time I click on the shortcut in my taskbar. Is there some simple way to allow only that app to just activate without it asking for permission?

I'm a rebel. I just turn UAC off.
I've had UAC turned off since the day MS invented it.
But, I'm the only one that's ever on this computer and I "know" that anything you install is a risk. :-)

Hi Brink -
Thanks for the step-by-step fix. While it may work like a charm, it seems like a lot to do to make an app just run without the extra step. This app isn't used daily, but when I am really pushing the processor, or on these really hot days. I was looking for a more simple fix, like putting in an extra permission in properties or something like that. I am amazed when someone figures out these work-arounds. I wouldn't know where to begin.

Thanks for the suggestion.
While I think of myself as a rebel, too, I also think of the pain that is involved in using a backup, and of all that I just endured (yet, again with a new computer and operating system) in installing software and preferences when I have had to either get a new computer, or reinstall the operating system in an old one. Nothing is ever easy. The UAC is just another safeguard to keep a bad .exe file from ruining your day. I know I could disable it, but with tons of emails coming in everyday that are spam, plus malware on websites, one can't be too careful. Crypto-locker or some other insidious program can just ruin one's day, or a life's work. I am not tempted to go that route.

While I think of myself as a rebel, too, I also think of the pain that is involved in using a backup, and of all that I just endured (yet, again with a new computer and operating system) in installing software and preferences when I have had to either get a new computer, or reinstall the operating system in an old one. Nothing is ever easy. The UAC is just another safeguard to keep a bad .exe file from ruining your day. I know I could disable it, but with tons of emails coming in everyday that are spam, plus malware on websites, one can't be too careful. Crypto-locker or some other insidious program can just ruin one's day, or a life's work. I am not tempted to go that route.

Anyone on Windows 11 or Windows 10 for that matter, should be using backup software.
Microsoft breaks things too many times. And, like you said... re-installs are a pain.
