I bought a large screen Samsung Smart TV last year. Plugged it in, updated all the firmware, then turned the network off.
You can't buy a large screen dumb TV anymore, so that's what has to be done sadly.
I have an external home theater audio/video box from Denon, and use it and the cable box to source material.
So the TV is relegated to just being a monitor.
