It looks like I'm stuck with Windows 10.

I also discovered my 6th generation Dell OptiPlex 3620 towers have TPM 1.2, but they do have firmware for TPM 2.0, so I should have better luck with them.
Maybe, maybe not. There are also processor requirements, I can't find any Intel CPU earlier than 8th gen in the supported lists.:

fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update.

It is quite possible that Microsoft will have that fixed before official release. But there is a way...overwrite the INSTALL.WIM in the Window 10 ISO with the INSTALL.WIM from the Windows 11 ISO. IF you have INSTALL.ESD, you must first convert it.

I have an W10 ESD-ISO.

I discovered my 4th generation Dell Optiplex 9020 minitowers have TPM 1.2 and have no firmware for TPM 2.0, so they probably won't be running Windows 11 in the future.
I also discovered my 6th generation Dell OptiPlex 3620 towers have TPM 1.2, but they do have firmware for TPM 2.0, so I should have better luck with them.

jbcarreon123:
Go into the BIOS for your Dells and look for a heading with the name Security.
Expand it to expose its list of entries.
There should be an entry with the name TPM Security.
Check the settings to see if it's enabled and activated.

Go into the support site for your Dells and select the driver downloads for Windows 10 64-bit.
Select the Security section of the drivers list.
If TPM 2.0 firmware is listed, you're in luck.

I have an 2012-ish pale blue BIOS that has no TPM settings into it.
Also, all the drivers in the website are for XP, Vista, 7 and 8.
My PC is Dell Vostro 270s

My laptop is based upon 6th generation Intel processor, so it failed the PC Health test miserably. And it is under warranty for another year lol.

Ahhh, well. My desktop can run it so I'm fine with that.

either way, that machine is missing TPM and only a handful of old Dell Vostros have it as noted here.

    Windows Defender rocks!
The CPU generation is too old. And the BIOS version date suggests that it was assembled and sold well before the TPM 2.0 specification was live.

Which may also be why CPUs older than a certain generation are being automatically precluded by Microsoft.....

It’s probably the Spectre/Meltdown business why slightly older CPU’s are not included. I once saw a security paper explaining that only a hardware replacement (CPU) can truly fix these vulnerabilities. I did spend a lot on $$$ my current machine, it’s sad it’s going to be worthless.

The Intel Core i3-2100 processor mentioned in the image is a 2nd generation model.
You can identify which generation an Intel Core processor is by the first number after the dash in its description.

Other examples:
My Dell OptiPlex 9020 has an Intel Core i7-4790 processor, so it's 4th generation.
My Dell Precision 3620 has an Intel Core i7-6700 processor, so it's 6th generation.

The web page link you submitted shows the Intel Core i3-2100 processor as 2nd generation.

My main laptop won't run Windows 11. It's about 11 years old - but hardly used! HP Pavilion DM4. I bought two used ones years ago - one for spares. Wore one of them out to death then dropped it and broke it to bits recently, so started using the other one - which is hardly used - like a 2 year old laptop. Shame, I really like my laptop - because the mousepad is in the middle lol. I hate mousepads not being in the middle. And I got it cheap. We do have a couple of other computers in the house that will run it though.

If what I've been reading from Microsoft is correct, only 8th generation and newer processors will be supported by Windows 11.
Windows 11 is scheduled to be released in the fall of 2021, so we should know what we need to know by then.

If that holds true, and if Microsoft manages to make that date for RTM. It's Microsoft, and there are always a lot of "IFs" with them, and in this situation, a lot more than normal.

This is Microsoft's current prediction - if it holds true.
Both Windows 11 and Windows 10 Version 21H2 will launch in the fall of this year.

Launch meaning released to Manufacturing versus launch meaning released to users to install via Windows Update.

Everywhere I've heard users get it 2022, not 2021

Seems our other laptop won’t run it either. 2015 HP Spectre X360 13. It has UEFI but only TPM 1.2. I can’t see any firmware to upgrade this model to TPM 2.0 although HP has this for other models.
