  • Updates an issue that causes the audio service to stop responding on some devices that support hardware-accelerated Bluetooth audio.
  • Updates an issue that affects icons for apps when the apps are not running. On the taskbar, these icons might display as active as if the apps are running.
  • Adds a new Your Microsoft Account page to the Accounts category in Windows Settings for Home and Professional editions.

Improvements and fixes​

This non-security update includes quality improvements. Key changes include:
  • Improves the reliability of application installations on ARM64 devices.
  • Updates daylight savings time to start in February 2022 instead of March 2022 in Jordan.
  • Addresses an issue that causes ARM64 devices to stop responding when they hibernate or resume from hibernation.
  • Addresses an issue that affects predictive pre-rendering in Microsoft Edge Internet Explorer mode.
  • Addresses an issue that sometime prevents you from entering strings in the Input Method Editor (IME).
  • Addresses an issue that causes the audio service to stop responding on some devices that support hardware-accelerated Bluetooth audio.
  • Addresses an issue in which the text that informs a customer about the Windows update progress is incorrect for Japanese.
  • Addresses an issue that affects icons for apps when the apps are not running. On the taskbar, these icons might display as active as if the apps are running.
  • Addresses an issue that might cause VPN profiles to disappear. This issue occurs when you use Microsoft Intune or a third-party mobile device management (MDM) tool to deploy VPN profiles on Windows 11 (original release).
  • Addresses an issue that affects applications that are written to only integrate with Azure Active Directory (AAD). These applications will not work on machines that are joined to Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS).
  • Addresses an issue that might cause the Get-TPM PowerShell command to fail when it attempts to report Trusted Platform Module (TPM) information. The command fails with the error, “0x80090011 Microsoft.Tpm.Commands.TpmWmiException,Microsoft.Tpm.Commands.GetTpmCommand”.
  • Addresses an issue that causes a remote desktop protocol (RDP) session to disconnect or the screen to be blank for Server Core. This issue occurs when you install the AppCompat feature.
  • Addresses an issue that affects windows.system.profile.retailinfo.dll.
  • Addresses some issues that affect File Explorer’s performance when you browse for files and select files.
  • Adds a new Your Microsoft Account page to the Accounts category in Windows Settings for Home and Professional editions.
  • Addresses an issue that incorrectly shows the volume icon in the taskbar as muted.

  • Addresses a performance regression issue that occurs when you enable the update sequence number (USN) journal.
  • Addresses an issue that fails to apply the Group Policy Object (GPO) “Do not allow compression on all NTFS Volume” in some cases.
  • Addresses an issue that prevents Robocopy from retrying the file copy process.
  • Addresses a known issue that might prevent some image editing programs from rendering colors correctly on certain high dynamic range (HDR) displays. This frequently affects white colors that might display in bright yellow or other colors.
  • Addresses an issue that causes Windows to stop working and generates the error, “IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL”.
  • Addresses a memory leak that occurs when you call WinVerifyTrust(). This issue occurs if verification fails for the first signature of a file that has multiple signatures.
  • Adds an audit event to Active Directory domain controllers that identifies clients that are not compliant with RFC 4456. For more information, see KB5005408: Smart card authentication might cause print and scan failures.
If you installed earlier updates, only the new fixes contained in this package will be downloaded and installed on your device.

Windows 11 servicing stack update - 22000.469​

This update makes quality improvements to the servicing stack, which is the component that installs Windows updates. Servicing stack updates (SSU) ensure that you have a robust and reliable servicing stack so that your devices can receive and install Microsoft updates. Key changes include:
  • Addresses multiple Features on Demand package failures that you typically encounter when you attempt to set up or install Windows Mixed Reality.

All usersRecent emails might not appear in the search results of the Microsoft Outlook desktop app. This issue is related to emails that have been stored locally in a PST or OST files. It might affect POP and IMAP accounts, as well as accounts hosted on Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft 365. If you want to remove the LCU

To remove the LCU after installing the combined SSU and LCU package, use the DISM/Remove-Package command line option with the LCU package name as the argument. You can find the package name by using this command: DISM /online /get-packages.

Running Windows Update Standalone Installer (wusa.exe) with the /uninstall switch on the combined package will not work because the combined package contains the SSU. You cannot remove the SSU from the system after installation.

I just tried the solution of HiddeDoesTech on my own computer, but STILL have the same problem afterwards! So I give up.

This is what I did, Mileage may vary for you. It seems a bug. Settings>apps>apps and features>scroll to windows terminal>three vertical dots to the side>advanced options> reset and or repair or both and reboot. You can alternatively uninstall it from apps and features and reinstall from windows store.

Did all that. And still it does not work on one of my two computer systems.

Also tried:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup
sfc /scannow

The problem remains.

After running the command and then repair and reset I got the path to the exe. file back I rebooted then I could open it from the winx menu.
Trying to repair from winx menu did not help me.

This is what did it for me. Sorry I forgot to add the command in the last post. This will install and reregister the app. Afterwards I still could not get it to open untill I both reset and repaired in apps and features. It now works on winx menu. This may not be your problem but I hope it helps.
Copy and paste this command to admin powershell
get-appxpackage Microsoft.WindowsTerminal -allusers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}
Then go to apps and features and reset and repair.

You may be having a different problem than I did. Did you set it as default app as outlined in the tutorial by microsoft? Did you try to uninstall and reinstall the app from the store?

Yes and yes. Only uninstalling the update KB5008353 fixes the problem.

Yes and yes. Only uninstalling the update KB5008353 fixes the problem.
This was a "c" release (bugs) just wait to install it till it is fixed.

Not really, the same happened to me but somehow all the solutions to fix Spotlight, found on Google, fixed the Slideshow instead.

Go figure :think:
Do you know what step actually fixed yours? Resetting the spotlight cache didn't help. Neither spotlight or slideshow work anymore on two different machines.

Do you know what step actually fixed yours? Resetting the spotlight cache didn't help. Neither spotlight or slideshow work anymore on two different machines.

I removed the folder for the Slideshow and set the lock screen to Picture, reset the cache, rebooted, changed again to Slideshow and added the folder, rebooted again and it was working.

After that I also tried some more stuff I found around to see if I could fix Spotlight too, like making sure Indexing is enabled and something else I can't remember, except one thing : Background Apps.
Windows 11 doesn't have that and it might as well be what we need to fix it. I upgraded from 10 to 11 and maybe I had Settings and Edge not running in background so now they're stuck like that somewhere where we can't change them, I have no idea really, that's the only thing I can think of.

I hope you can at least fix Slideshow following my steps above, or even Spotlight if it's your lucky day :cool:

Ah oh, think you just solved it for me. I brain farted indexing has to be on for the lockscreen slideshow to work. I recently turned it off on both machines since I rarely use the search function and have SSD drives. Ah oh, think you just solved it for me. I brain farted indexing has to be on for the lockscreen slideshow to work. I recently turned it off on both machines since I rarely use the search function and have SSD drives. Since upgrading to KB5008353, when I right click on the Start button (WinX Menu) and click on either "Windows Terminal" or "Windows Terminal (Admin)", it doesn't open.
Did anyone find a fix for this?
I've done a Repair and Reset, but it didn't fix it.

Don't recall seeing this one mentioned in the thread but it's out there as a possible fix, might be Win10 but may work for 11:

Move the settings.json file out of %LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.WindowsTerminal_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState. Try starting the Windows Terminal, it will create a brand new settings.json file. If it works, you can try to copy the old settings back bit-by-bit to see where it breaks.

Before I make any changes, I have found this in my research.
Apparently the WinX Menu is broken on some Windows 11 PCs.

The problem is that there are two different WinX Group 3 folders.
Below are the two different WinX Group 3 folders. Only one is correct.
C:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\WinX\Group3
%localappdata%\Microsoft\Windows\WinX\Group3


On my computer, C:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\WinX\Group3 has eleven shortcuts, and %localappdata%\Microsoft\Windows\WinX\Group3 has fifteen shortcuts.

I am pretty sure that the correct working folder is %localappdata%\Microsoft\Windows\WinX\Group3, but it has the wrong shortcuts.
The correct shortcuts are in C:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\WinX\Group3.

I am thinking I can copy and replace all the correct shortcuts into the correct folder to fix it.
I am just looking for some feedback from you guys if the above folders are on your computers containing WinX Menu shortcuts and your opinions on the fix.


Edit 1: My solution won't be permanent as all the newer shortcuts are being written to C:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\WinX\Group3.

The shortcuts in %localappdata%\Microsoft\Windows\WinX\Group3 are older.

I think I need to change the Registry.

Edit 2: It's getting more confusing. Windows 11 is creating WinX Menu shortcuts in multiple locations.
I just found two more locations.
C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\WinX\Group3
C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\WinX\Group3


I just need to find a permanent fix.

As such it should be safe to copy shortcuts from it to your %localappdata% folder, you're only repeating what would have been done when the account was first created.

I copied them over and did a restart, but it didn't fix it. Both "Windows Terminal" or "Windows Terminal (Admin)" don't open from the WinX Menu.

It's strange that this problem has only arisen recently.
I've used Windows Terminal many times before, and I am sure I would have opened it from the WinX Menu.

The strangest thing about this is the shortcuts work if I double click them from File Explorer, but it won't work from the WinX Menu.
I have even uninstalled Windows Terminal and reinstalled it.

The strangest thing about this is the shortcuts work if I double click them from File Explorer, but it won't work from the WinX Menu.
I have even uninstalled Windows Terminal and reinstalled it.

Same with mine. And the fact that clicking on the shortcuts themselves work perfectly, but they won't start from the WinX menu also puzzled me. Very strange.
