  • Staff
UPDATE 9/30:

 Microsoft Support:

September 10, 2024 - KB5043080 (OS Build 26100.1742)

OS Build 26100.1742
For information about Windows update terminology, see the article about the types of Windows updates and the monthly quality update types.

Note Follow @WindowsUpdate to find out when new content is published to the Windows release health dashboard.

Important: Windows 11, version 24H2 targets Copilot+ PCs devices and devices that previously used Windows Insider 24H2 builds.

Highlights

  • This update addresses security issues for your Windows operating system.

Improvements

This security update includes improvements that were a part of update KB5041865 (released August 27, 2024). Below is a summary of the key issues that this update addresses when you install this KB. If there are new features, it lists them as well. The bold text within the brackets indicates the item or area of the change we are documenting.
  • [Windows Installer] When it repairs an application, the User Account Control (UAC) does not prompt for your credentials. After you install this update, the UAC will prompt for them. Because of this, you must update your automation scripts. Application owners must add the Shield icon. It indicates that the process requires full administrator access. To turn off the UAC prompt, set the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer\DisableLUAInRepair registry value to 1. The changes in this update might affect automatic Windows Installer repairs; see Application Resiliency: Unlock the Hidden Features of Windows Installer.
  • [Task Manager] Graphs on the Performance page in Task Manager do not show the correct colors when you use dark mode.
If you installed earlier updates, only the new updates contained in this package will be downloaded and installed on your device.

For more information about security vulnerabilities, please refer to the Security Update Guide website and the September 2024 Security Updates.

Windows 11 servicing stack update (KB5043113)- 26100.1738

This update makes quality improvements to the servicing stack, which is the component that installs Windows updates. Servicing stack updates (SSU) ensure that you have a robust and reliable servicing stack so that your devices can receive and install Microsoft updates.

Known issues in this update

Applies toSymptomWorkaround
All usersWe’re aware of an issue where players on Arm devices are unable to download and play Roblox via the Microsoft Store on Windows.Players on Arm devices can play Roblox by downloading the title directly from www.Roblox.com.

How to get this update

Before you install this update

Microsoft combines the latest servicing stack update (SSU) for your operating system with the latest cumulative update (LCU). For general information about SSUs, see Servicing stack updates and Servicing Stack Updates (SSU): Frequently Asked Questions.

Install this update

To install this update, use one of the following Windows and Microsoft release channels.

AvailableNext Step
Yes (Windows Update)None. This update will be downloaded and installed automatically from Windows Update and Microsoft Update.
Yes (MSU)To get the standalone package for this update, go to the Microsoft Update Catalog website.

If you want to remove the LCU

To remove the LCU after installing the combined SSU and LCU package, use the DISM/Remove-Package command line option with the LCU package name as the argument. You can find the package name by using this command: DISM /online /get-packages.

Running Windows Update Standalone Installer (wusa.exe) with the /uninstall switch on the combined package will not work because the combined package contains the SSU. You cannot remove the SSU from the system after installation.

It may be because you don't have all the old Redistributable Runtime .NET drivers installed.

See this post & download ALL the previous Redistributable Runtime .NET drivers.

It may be because you don't have all the old Redistributable Runtime .NET drivers installed.

See this post & download ALL the previous Redistributable Runtime .NET drivers.
Thats not the problem, they are all installed.

I think most games don't use .net, but rather C++, and older games may require older versions of DirectX:

I have just installed both of those, still the same issues. I was hoping a fresh install would be better removing any crap that had been left over the years, pc does seem far more responsive, but now these odd irritations. Games than ran a month ago now refuse to run.

Did you have the same problems with the W11 23H2?

Actually I was going to download the latest Windows 11 24H2 (26100.1742) from Uup dump but your comments stopped me because 80% of my games are from 2007-2020.

No, and I never had an issue with 24H2 either until I did a reformat and fresh install. My previous Windows was a version that had been upgraded over the years

If you don't play these games:
  • Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
  • Star Wars Outlaws
  • Assassin's Creed® Origins
  • Assassin's Creed® Odyssey
These games may have some trouble on 24H2.

24H2 OS Build 26100.1742 installed. I noticed that the desktop icon for the Corsair iCue app disappeared and it did not start up with windows. This app controls a few of my devices, keyboard, mouse, nexus, etc., so I need it to start up. I thought I could just uninstall it and re-install it but no such luck. The install software gives you the option to install, repair or uninstall and NONE of them work.

To uninstall iCue, a Corsair faq suggested I go into the control panel, add-remove program, but when you get there, this iCue software is not in that list.

I have found that starting the progam manually seems to be a workaround for now. I will contact Corsair to see if they can provide any help. If not, I hope the next update will fix this proble.

Which version of iCue is installed?

I have a Cosair H150i cooler. ICue 5.18.106. I don't let it run at startup. The desktop shortcut remains, and it launches normally.

The iCue version is 5.17.110 production. This iCue needs be run with another Corsair app called Stream Deck and they fight over controlling the keyboard G-keys. I think Corsair is working included Stream Deck into iCue. I have to start these apps up manually to get my keyboard working properly. (Its a Corsair K100 RGB keyboard)

There is a newer version of iCUE out 5.18.106. Never used Steam Desk, is this for the Stream handheld device?

I download the Corsair installer for Windows and it says 5.18.16, but when I open it, it says I have the latest iCUE version installed. iCUE says it is version 5.17.110. Guess that is a Corsair problem.

The Elgato Stream Deck allows you the set up the G keys on this keyboard, while the iCUE app seems to only allow text for those keys. Boths apps say to use the other app to set up those keys! Its another Corsair problem.

I download the Corsair installer for Windows and it says 5.18.16, but when I open it, it says I have the latest iCUE version installed. iCUE says it is version 5.17.110. Guess that is a Corsair problem.
Just use the Check For Updates option in iCue.

iCUE is set up for automatic updates. I did try the "Check for Updates" option and it did nothing.

If you right click on iCUE in the taskbar, a box will pop up

Win-1255.png

Clicking "About" will give you your version (as you probably know)

Checking for updates in the software of the above box seems to be buggy ATM.
You're very possibly correct. Maybe there is a server connect issue?
