Windows Secure Boot certificate expiration

Important: Secure Boot certificates used by most Windows devices are set to expire starting in June 2026. This might affect the ability of certain personal and business devices to boot securely if not updated in time. To avoid disruption, we recommend reviewing the guidance and taking action to update certificates in advance. For details and preparation steps, see Windows Secure Boot certificate expiration and CA updates.

Microsoft Store apps updates

Change log

Change dateChange description
February 24, 2026Update: In the “How to get this update” section, under Catalog, the second MSU file listed in Method 2: Install each MSU file individually has been updated.

Improvements

This security update contains fixes and quality improvements from KB5074109 (released January 13, 2026). KB5077744 (released January 17, 2026), and KB5078127 (released January 24, 2026). The following summary outlines key issues addressed by this update. Also, included are available new features. The bold text within the brackets indicates the item or area of the change.
  • [Gaming] Fixed: This update addresses an issue that determines device eligibility for the full-screen gaming experience.
  • [Networking] Fixed: This update addresses an issue that prevented some devices from connecting to certain WPA3‑Personal Wi‑Fi networks. The issue might occur after you install KB5074105.
  • [Secure Boot] With this update, Windows quality updates include a broad set of targeting data that identifies devices and their ability to receive new Secure Boot certificates. Devices will receive the new certificates only after they show sufficient successful update signals, which helps ensures a safe and phased rollout.
If you've already installed previous updates, your device will download and install only the new updates included in this package.

For more information about security vulnerabilities, see the Security Update Guide and the February 2026 Security Updates.

Windows 11 servicing stack update (KB5077869)- 26100.7839

This update makes quality improvements to the servicing stack, which is the component that installs Windows updates. Servicing stack updates (SSU) ensure that you have a robust and reliable servicing stack so that your devices can receive and install Microsoft updates. To learn more about SSUs, see Simplifying on-premises deployment of servicing stack updates.

Known issues in this update

Microsoft is not currently aware of any issues with this update.

How to get this update

Before you install this update

Microsoft combines the latest servicing stack update (SSU) for your operating system with the latest cumulative update (LCU). For general information about SSUs, see Servicing stack updates and Servicing Stack Updates (SSU): Frequently Asked Questions.

Install this update

To install this update, use one of the following Windows and Microsoft release channels.

AvailableNext Step
Included
This update downloads and installs automatically from Windows Update and Microsoft Update.
Yes 1Before you install this update

To get the standalone package(s) for this update, go to the Microsoft Update Catalog website. This KB contains one or more MSU files that require installation in a specific order.

Install this update

Method 1: Install all MSU files together

Download all MSU files for KB5077181 from Microsoft Update Catalog and place them in the same folder (for example, C:/Packages). Use Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM.exe) to install the target update. DISM will use the folder specified in PackagePath to discover and install one or more prerequisite MSU files as needed.

Updating Windows PC

To apply this update to a running Windows PC, run the following command from an elevated Command Prompt:

DISM /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath:c:\packages\Windows11.0-KB5077181-x64.msu

Or, run the following command from an elevated Windows PowerShell prompt:

Add-WindowsPackage -Online -PackagePath "c:\packages\Windows11.0-KB5077181-x64.msu"

Or use Windows Update Standalone Installer to install the target update.

Updating Windows Installation media

To apply this update to Windows Installation media, see Update Windows installation media with Dynamic Update.

Note: When downloading other Dynamic Update packages, ensure they match the same month as this KB. If the SafeOS Dynamic Update or Setup Dynamic Update is not available for the same month as this KB, use the most recently published version of each.

To add this update to a mounted image, run the following command from an elevated Command Prompt:

DISM /Image:mountdir /Add-Package /PackagePath:Windows11.0-KB5077181-x64.msu

Or, run the following command from an elevated Windows PowerShell prompt:

Add-WindowsPackage -Path "c:\offline" -PackagePath "Windows11.0-KB5077181-x64.msu" -PreventPending

Method 2: Install each MSU file individually, in order

Download and install each MSU file individually either using DISM or Windows Update Standalone Installer in the following order:
  1. windows11.0-kb5043080-x64_953449672073f8fb99badb4cc6d5d7849b9c83e8.msu
  2. windows11.0-kb5077181-x64_33d38563662e659ceb84fb8b65aa05ce5876f5a4.msu
1 This latest cumulative update includes updates for AI components. Even though the AI component updates are included in the update, the AI components are only applicable to Windows Copilot+ PCs and will not install on Windows PC or Windows Server.

If you want to remove the LCU

To remove the LCU after installing the combined SSU and LCU package, use the DISM/Remove-Package command line option with the LCU package name as the argument. You can find the package name by using this command: DISM /online /get-packages.

Running Windows Update Standalone Installer (wusa.exe) with the /uninstall switch on the combined package will not work because the combined package contains the SSU. You cannot remove the SSU from the system after installation.

File information

For a list of the files provided in this update, download the file information for cumulative update 5077181.

For a list of the files provided in the servicing stack update, download the file information for the SSU (KB5077869) - version 26100.7839.

Just performance drops in certain games, others not effected by it. Could just be the game I was playing since it updated the same day too.

No. Me too.
It's because the update file is cumulative, containing all the fixes from the first release of 24H2. It gets bigger each update.

I asked the question before - why doesn't MS change the build number (say 26201) and include all the updates to that point? Cumulative updates would be small again

Or use the so-called 'checkpoint' updates they mentioned before..

That proves my point. It depends on the setting you are using. 😂😂
I can reproduce the problems with white flash or black flash on all my 5 different machines.
These days it's ironic that invaluable little programs like Startallback actually fix flash bugs that Microsoft can't seem to fix as it continues to insist that the Taskbar in Win 11 Insider releases should be an immovable, ugly abomination. SAB proves absolutely that Microsoft could restore the Taskbar to its former glory and usefulness, but simply doesn't want to! Microsoft literally doesn't want to make the Win11 desktop better and more functional, but insists on degrading it--even though tens of thousands of Win11 users continue to scream at them to STOP! And on top of that, they continue to inject bugs into the taskbar and beyond. Getting harder to see the endgame from Microsoft these days.

Great New system. Exceeds my expectations by quite a bit, btw. I love the USB G8 SoundBlaster, it's quite an improvement over the G6!
I finally got around to booting my main computer after this update, and it did show DISM issues scanning the health. A quick run fixed those with a repair, interesting that the other two computers were clean after the update.

Updated fine but I still am lacking the new Windows 11 Start Menu on every system I have. Very odd, there were people that had this last Fall.

In that case how do you know that there is an error if it doesn't show the Error Code 2 message?

This is what I see in Dev, the pointer is not updated to the latest, but at least it points to one that exists. 😂

Here is my FBH report.
I don't want to mess with the registry permissions to correct the wrong pointers. 😵‍💫🤷‍♂️

It looks like they may have been wrong even before the latest update.

The Samsung NVMe PM9C1a 1024GB SSD does not use a Phison NAND controller. Instead, it uses Samsung's in-house developed Piccolo (S4LY022) 6-Core 4 Channel Controller. The PM9C1a utilizes a controller built using Samsung's 5-nanometer process and seventh-generation V-NAND technology. 🤔

From Dell: 512GB NVME Solid State Drive accelerated by 32GB Intel Optane Memory are the fastest as compared to NAND SSDs. Intel Optane H10 with SSD offers speedy storage and accelerates opening your programs.
