Not sure what installed in Windows 11 25H2 26200.8117 this morning, but now I am getting Recall login prompt and Recall is running in Windows 11 now.

I removed the folders and files in %LocalAppData%\CoreAIPlatform.00\UKP path, but they keep regenerating.

Recall is NOT enabled in Windows 11:

I notice that in Microsoft Edge and Microsoft Store now shows my Microsoft account logged in. I did not have my Microsoft account logged in anywhere on this system. I do not have Microsoft 365 installed on this system. In Windows 11 Settings > Accounts > Your accounts has no account shown there.

This Windows 11 system runs on a local account without a Microsoft account. I'm puzzled on how the Microsoft account got logged in. Windows 11 keeps prompting me to set up Windows Hello and I will not do that.

Is it possible that you logged into the Microsoft Store with your Microsoft account? Clearly you used it somewhere because it doesn't just pull that info out of thin air.

I don't use the Microsoft Store or Microsoft Edge.

I did log in to Outlook.com email account in Google Chrome (without using Incognito mode). Possibly the Google data sync'd with Microsoft Edge enabling the Microsoft account. Not sure if I have that feature disabled.

Ah, now I understand. Yes, you can modify the command to kill other programs running in the background. However, note a few caveats:

taskkill.exe filters processes by EXE name. So you won't be able to kill services hosted in a common container (such as svchost.exe) as it will terminate all of them, potentially crashing the computer (don't try that one—it could be difficult to remove the task!). rundll32.exe would be another container to be careful with (shouldn't interfere with the boot process, but it does cast a broad brush).

Some processes (such as CrossDeviceResume.exe) are launched once upon logon. This works well for those. However, other processes are launched in response to events. It will be harder to target those (you could try making the task recurring every few minutes—IFEO might be a better method to try to block those).

Some processes (such as StartMenuExperienceHost.exe—unnecessary if you're using a 3rd-party Start Menu) are automatically restarted if they exit unexpectedly. This will not work on those as a new one will immediately be launched to replaced the terminated one. I was able to successfully block that one by adjusting permissions to deny read access (results in a DCOM error being logged at login, but nothing further). Some however will throw a visible error message if you deny access (hence this taskkill trick with CrossDeviceResume.exe).

Some processes (such as TextInputHost.exe and mobsync.exe) are launched in response to a setting (HKCU\Software\Microsoft\input\IsInputAppPreloadEnabled) or a DCOM server (HKCR\CLSID\{1A1F4206-0688-4E7F-BE03-D82EC69DF9A5})—respectively. It is better to change the setting or unregister the server than to try to terminate the process after the fact.

You will need to change the task name if you're writing additional tasks, or the new task will replace the old one.

Best thing is to try manual termination (from Task Manager's Details tab, or using System Informer) and verify the outcome is as desired before writing a task to automate termination for you.

I don't use Edge often and it never used my MS account, it shows "Profile 1" instead. (Edge 147.0.3912.60). When using Chrome, I always sign out at the end of session, e.g. after checking the mail in web version of MS Outlook.
As for MS Store, once I signed in, it keeps my account in profile. I can sign out, but prefer to keep the profile active. It never asked me to use MS account on PC instead of local account.

I see the Defender update came in today, but I didn't get the Audio Driver update. However, I have turned off allowing Windows to update my drivers as it screws up too often!

I run clean, unmodified Windows 11 Pro and use only Official Microsoft OEM supported hardware. I've never had a problem allowing Windows to update drivers.

Well, not all of us are so lucky. I don't run with mods to Windows either. However, I don't run on laptops that are canned systems, and Microsoft has screwed me several times on driver updates. I don't allow them that chance nowadays.

I too have a machine that uses all MS supported hardware, but where driver updates are wonky. This system uses an ASUS MB and an Intel CPU with the built-in graphics (no separate GPU). ASUS seems to use just the generic Intel driver for the graphics (as best as I can tell) but for some reason, anytime I allow the driver to be updated, Windows update pushes an older driver back down to the machine. I finally had to set a group policy to prevent that driver from being downgraded.

However, I will admit that driver installation has been really good lately. A friend of mine has a Lenovo Legion laptop with 128GB of DDR5 RAM and a 13th gen i9 CPU. He wanted a clean install on his system a few weeks ago, and I was fully prepared with all drivers for the system downloaded. It turns that after Microsoft update ran on the system every last driver was automatically installed, and I had to install not a single driver. Now that's a pretty darn good result. I guess that Lenovo must be really good about providing all their drivers to Microsoft.

Looked at your computers (System 1 and 2), good laptops. I can't see paying too much for laptops when they do not last that long at times. The longest I ever had a laptop last me was about 6 to 6 1/2 years and that was a long time ago. I usually get 3-4 years now. The Dell XPS systems are supposed to last longer. I have worked on many Dell XPS laptops and desktops, they are made better.

About a year ago I went through about 9 laptops because they were defective out of the box. Those were Lenovo (3 laptops), HP (4 laptops), and Dell (2 laptops). I had to exchange the Dell laptop model that I currently used twice. This Dell 16 Plus DB16255 laptop still has problems that Dell cannot correct for some reason. Sent it to Dell two times for repair, they send it back with "unable to repair" each time. This relates to the USB-A port and overheating problems. Found a workaround for the heating problems, but not the USB-A port.
