Improvements

This OOB contains quality improvements from KB5079473 (released March 10, 2026). The following summary outlines key issues addressed by this update. The bold text within the brackets indicates the item or area of the change.
  • [Microsoft account sign in] Fixed: After you install the Windows update released on or after March 10, 2026, some users might experience an issue signing in to apps with a Microsoft account. Even when the device has a working Internet connection, a “no Internet” error appears during sign in and prevents access to Microsoft services and apps such as Microsoft Teams Free and OneDrive.

Note: Only sign ins using Microsoft accounts are affected. Businesses using Microsoft Entra ID for app authentication will not experience this issue.
This update is offered through Windows Update for devices running Windows 11 that have already installed KB5079473. It is also available for manual download from the Microsoft Update Catalog.

Devices with Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available turned on will receive this update automatically. If this setting is turned off, you can install the update manually by going to Settings > Windows Update and selecting Download & install.

Note: IT administrators using Microsoft Intune or Windows Autopatch should follow the guidance below for installing the OOB update via Windows Update.

Windows 11 servicing stack update (KB5083532)- 26100.8035

This update makes quality improvements to the servicing stack, which is the component that installs Windows updates. Servicing stack updates (SSU) ensure that you have a robust and reliable servicing stack so that your devices can receive and install Microsoft updates. To learn more about SSUs, see Simplifying on-premises deployment of servicing stack updates.

Known issues in this update

Microsoft is not currently aware of any issues with this update.

How to get this update

Before you install this update

Microsoft combines the latest servicing stack update (SSU) for your operating system with the latest cumulative update (LCU). For general information about SSUs, see Servicing stack updates.

Install this update

To install this update, use one of the following Windows and Microsoft release channels.

AvailableNext Step
Included
Open Start > Settings Update & Security > Windows Update. In the Optional updates available area, you will find the link to download and install available updates.

Check for optional updates
Included
To install this release from the Microsoft Update Catalog, select the option that matches your device architecture (arm64 or x64), and then follow the instructions.

If you want to remove the LCU

Before you decide to remove the LCU, see Understanding the risks: Why you should not uninstall security updates.

To remove the LCU after installing the combined SSU and LCU package, use the DISM/Remove-Package command line option with the LCU package name as the argument. You can find the package name by using this command: DISM /online /get-packages.

Running Windows Update Standalone Installer (wusa.exe) with the /uninstall switch on the combined package will not work because the combined package contains the SSU. You cannot remove the SSU from the system after installation.

File information

For a list of the files provided in this update, download the file information for cumulative update 5085516.

Yes. Aware of that. Before this update (8037); 380Mb, Cleanmgr refused to clean this up. After this 8039 update it grew to 570Mb. Tried to clean, It cleaned some of it what went well but the same figure appeared at the end 380Mb. Cleanmgr for unknown reason also refused to clean the remainders/leftovers also.

I can do this by hand after some searching, but the problem is; Cleanmgr invokes the TrustedInstaller for this job. The highest user inside Windows. Even I as Admin does not have those rights. Is there any other alternative that respects Windows law and does not clean the wrong things? Any ideas out there?
Found out a couple of thing yesterday that was really annoying.

MS seems to have released (On their Windows 11 download page) a new version of 25H2 called: Win11_25H2_<Language>_x64_v2.iso. Examine this version it seems to based on 26200.8037.

Find it strange considering that is the release with that MS-account issue where they released this version 26200.8039 to fix that issue.

In order to fix my problem with update leftovers I tried to do a In-Place-Installment using the original release of 25H2. Setup during a Windows session. At the end it failed with a familiar error; 0x8007042B - 0x2000D, The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during the MIGRATE_DATA operation. Looking at the error and the possible cause; It seems that running background process were preventing moving data to the Windows.old location. OK. It must be a clean boot then. msconfig.exe; Selective startup. disable all non-MS services and inside the taskmanager disable any program that wants to start if Windows is booting. Reboot..... Well that seemed not work completely. Problem is that the scheduled taskmanager also starts all kind of stuff like Powertoys, Antivirus programs. Did not want to run into the same issue with that same SAFE_OS and MIGRATE__DATA issue again.

Other solution? Safe modes then? Nope you can't install Windows 11 in safe mode. Using Ventoy and start the ISO of 25H2. Yes that wants to boot until... An error message; It sees Bootmgr (SVN) 1.0 and it wanted to see Bootmgr (SVN) 3.0; (my system on disk has 7.0 and 3.0, 3.0 onboard already) Secure-boot-access-violation and... Shutdown.....
Solution? Boot other OS, disable CSM and reset default Boot keys in the BIOS.... What the hell? They all have the right values! I am NOT gonna reset these values. Turned off secure boot but I ran into an other issue. It seems that MS changed Windows 11 in such a way that it becomes hard to do an In-Place-Installment; it's demanding now that the Bootmgr (SVN) must be of a certain value. (Made a rescue disk with Hasleo; same issue. It saw 3.0 but wanted to see 7.0 as Bootmgr SVN. (Could work arround it by turning off secure boot))

Resolved the issue by using the Settings-System-systemrestore-recoveryoption-repair my PC... A very lengthy proces. (Frustrating; is downloading Win11 again while I do have a official copy of 25H2 v1 and v2 on disk. If keeps hanging on 99% for a very long time....) And this while the same process are running which may cause that SAFE_OS error. It seems that it could work arround this while the In-Place-Installment could not. Maybe there is a workaround for it using the WinRE environment. Did not tried that because everything took up so much time.

After this process I got rid of that 380Mb I could not delete with cleanmgr.exe.... Before this Free space was 84Gb, after this 100Gb after cleanmgr.exe deleted the Windows.old dir (some 18,5Gb) and older backup updates. (I made before this a Hasleo complete backup of the C-drive to have a way out!)

So if anybody wants to use the In-Place-Installment procedure.... Goodluck.....

Addon; Saw the announcement of a preview update 26200.8116 (KB5079391) getting released yesterday (26-03-2026) Distributed in the normal way. They again still are pointing out that the CA2011 will expire in June 2026 and that "we" must take action. It seems that that CA2023 and replacing all the drivers pointing to that CA2023 certificate is not (yet again) included in this update. Time is ticking. Tik-tak-tik-tak..... At least they can insert the CA2023 certificate with ease because it will not used until the new drivers are placed.

Keep 2 things separate
- Official new 25H2 v2.0 release. (26200.8037)
- The upcoming update KB5079391 26200.8116.

This update will be distributed by the normal update means; Maybe it will be triggered not today (search for new update) but maybe the next few days. Depending if MS pulls their switch of "release for update".....

I on the other hand download 26200.8116 though the update catalog of Microsoft. Installed it. DISM and SFC OK. 1 package to be cleanup (3 to 2 again)
To see what it does. I can see that (again) 141 drivers in the C:\Windows\System32\drivers directory are replaced with this update. If signed; pointing still towards the (old) "Microsoft Windows Production PCA 2011" certificate. No CA2023 certificate to be seen inside the intermediate certificate store.... As expected......
(KB5079391; windows11.0-kb5079391-x64_0a0129ebe88fdd66e19ac7d40d9cddd0b18c3332.msu)
You don't have to download this one. It will pop up the next few days maybe on Patchday Tuesday.

You can see what has been improved. Nothing to be exited about in order to update your machine right now. Just wait on the normal update proces.
See what has been improved; 26 maart 2026, KB5079391 (OS-builds 26200.8116 en 26100.8116) Preview - Microsoft Ondersteuning

I am on 8039 and I just ran into a One Problem. Every every update Windows ask me if I want to finish setting thing up for backup protection and I usually tell it to skip this step; this time I must have answered wrong. My personal files were being not justy backed up to One Drive but some were being MOVED to One Drive. I watched as icons started to disappear from my desktop. I quickly paused it and have now spent several hours moving files from One Drive back to my PC and fixing various links.

I really don't want One Drive on my PC, I prefer to do my own backups and know where they are stored. Is there a way to get rid of this free cloud service?

Ak
In General and maybe also in this case:
Maybe this can be useful. If you are worried about the content of your OneDrive before you want to switch it off make sure you make a backup of the OneDrive. This can be easily done by using Robocopy. You can use it many times at will. It will copy only newly added file. So at first this initial action takes a longer time then the next time. If there are some minor changes it will finish within a second.

As attachment a .txt file. You must rename it into a .cmd file. In this script you have to adjust <username>, SourceDir and DestinationDir to your whishes.
Place the .cmd file on the drive (e.a. X:\Backup) where the backup is taking place. Right-click on it and choose "Run as administrator" (If you double-click on it; you are not admin. It will tell you to run as admin) You can inspect the logfile to see what it has done. The script ends with a pause, so pressing on a key will close this window. You can adapt this script for other directory's also....

I have moved all the files on One Drive back to my PC and unlinked this PC. I will keep the all files on One Drive until I am sure I did not miss anything and then I will sign in and delete all those files. I plan on uninstalling One Drive, so I won't need Robocopy, but thanks for the suggestion.

I used to stop syncing the folders and unlink OneDrive then uninstall via Reevo but it would annoyingly return to the Dev and Canary channels after a major update. So all I do now is to stop the syncing and unlink it from my account and stop it starting using task manager. So far it seems to be working 🤷‍♂️ and hasn't re-loaded. ..... so far......

I'm not sure what the Insider Program is actually doing, but bad updates have been increasing in frequency in the past few years. Perhaps MS should try a little beta testing.

Yes I agree. Have said this many times. 25H2 is one of the worst builds ever. Bugs are slipping though into production. When MS releases a build, they must first test it extensively before it ends up in the Inside and Canary channels, These real world test are intended to spot the remainder of bugs.

It seems that MS is not extensively testing their own builds. When in production someone reports a bug. MS examine this and send out a OOB patch. And why releasing constant preview versions? They belong inside the canary channels. Where are these channels else for then?....

What do you think the Windows Insider Program is for if it isn't testing?

This is what Microsoft in the official Windows Insider Program Licensing says about the program.

Windows Inisder licensing snippet.webp

I've withdrawn both my computers from the Windows Insider Program because I want only the stable builds installed because I don't want to test insider channel builds any longer.

I was on the Insider beta channel, but for reasons I can't quite figure out, a few weeks back Microsoft dumped me out of the program and I'm back in the standard release channel. I decided that was actually a good thing, so I've just stayed with the standard release for the masses, it's buggy enough that I feel like I'm in the beta test anyway! :lmao:

January and February this year I went through an awful time with Windows on both my computers. Not related to 25H2 but more to do with the fact the OS is old and creaky now. Urgh! :poop:
