Changes and improvements gradually being rolled out​

  • This update includes a small set of general improvements and fixes that improve the overall experience for Insiders running this build on their PCs.

  • After resuming the rollout of Administrator protection as enabled by IT admins, we are also now rolling out the ability to enable Administrator Protection in Settings under Privacy & security > Windows Security > Account protection and switching the toggle to on. A restart will be required.

Reminder for Windows Insiders in the Experimental (26H1) channel​

  • These builds can be unstable and may be released with limited documentation.
  • Many features in the Experimental (26H1) channel are rolled out using Controlled Feature Rollout technology, starting with a subset of Insiders and ramping up over time as we monitor feedback to see how they land before pushing them out to everyone in this channel.
  • The desktop watermark shown at the lower right corner of the desktop is normal for Windows Insider pre-release builds.
  • Some features in active development we preview with Windows Insiders may not be fully localized and localization will happen over time as features are finalized. As you see issues with localization in your language, please report those issues to us via Feedback Hub.

This went from 28020.2207 to 28120.2242 and changed the insider page from Dev to this showing below.
It was a full reinstall and created Windows.old folder with 18.9 GB.

There was still one package left and required DISM /ONLINE /CLEANUP-IMAGE /STARTCOMPONENTCLEANUP to get rid of it.

The full reinstall downgraded the Intel graphics driver and I had to update it again.

Like on 295xx I had to reinstall .NET 3.5 that is still used by some programs.

With this build they finally fixed the WinRE Error code 0xc0000428 that used to fail to verify the winload.efi signature. Problem started with 2820.1611 and was still failing with 2820.2207 on several machines. This one just updated to 28120.2242 is a Dell XPS 8930, now Shift + Restart works as expected. 🤞

It says Release Preview for 28120.2242, I think that the insider builds are all considered Preview, MS confusing naming again. 🤷‍♂️
