I keep getting a message from Microsoft security when I sign into my gas & electricity account how do I stop it.

I get those and usually there's a Remember me or Remember this computer prompt which usually stops the pop-up when clicked. It's an additional security thing some sites use, especially those when dealing with payments.

Don't think you can, Microsoft does on occasions require a verification code. It seems to be related to their security measures like Log in patterns that look like bot/hacker attempts, too many attempts in a short time, different hardware, different Web Browser and so forth.
Merely checking Account details can trigger this verification.
If this is for payments then you can get various other security measures.

A dodge can be to just use another Email Account.

thats chrome. look for that setting in whatever browser you're looking for. its trying to use Windows Hello to set up a security key
